In the former Flora space

A new restaurant coming to an old space in East Arlington will be ready to open this fall. Bistro Duet is headed for 190 Massachusetts Ave. in early November and is now hiring employees, according to a post on Craigslist.

The French-style restaurant took over the space from Flora, which closed back in June after 20 years in business. The new owners, Wayne Duprey and Cyrille Couet, previously launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the buildout of the new place, which was once the Arlington Five Cents Savings Bank. "Bistro Duet will celebrate the uniqueness of the old bank while offering modern French food and drink in a refined-casual neighbourhood environment," according to a recent Kickstarter update.

Originally named Financier, the owners announced a name change for the project, as Wicked Local reported, landing on Bistro Duet. The restaurant will seat 110 people and will have private dining and an open kitchen. The bar will reportedly have French herbal liqueurs, distilled spirits, and craft beer. It will serve dinner seven days a week and brunch on weekends.

Potential menu items, submitted with Bistro Duet’s license application, include a squid ink and fried calamari appetizer, as well as a fresh mozzarella ballon. The entrees range from hangar steak to Dungeness crab ravioli and duck breast, while dessert includes chocolate profiteroles and a fresh fruit crumble.
