This week has taken me to the edge of sanity and back. Critters have gone missing, only to reappear unharmed. Country kids have pushed my to the brink, only to make me smile. I am telling ya, this old girl needs a nap!

The beginning of the week saw cooler temps. The trees started to change. I was so excited because my favorite season was here. WRONG. Mother Nature is a cruel mistress. We have had temps in the 90's for the last few days and it is scheduled to continue throughout the week. Seriously Mother Nature!?!?!

I have also tried this week to focus more on being calm. I feel so stressed lately, that I am making it even more of a point to find the small things in life to smile about. It is amazing how a drive down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere can really center a girl!

So what made me smile this week?

Long story short... Lily escaped the yard during free range. Lily was made to go back to our yard. Lily knew she was in deep doo doo and walked up her ramp and put herself back in her pen. Good bunny, very good.

When squeezing your child's head and chanting "get out of his butt" just doesn't work.
Gotta love the cute little penguin.... cause he is going to make it all better lol

Fall colors are defiantly starting to creep in.....

While on my nature walk I came across a little surprise that I shared live on facebook.

What's missing from this photo? If you guessed the oldest country kid, you would be correct. Why is it that every day at pick up he is never ready and where he should be!?!? I don't want to have to walk in and look for him, leading to embarrassment on his part, but I'm about to.....

We said goodbye to this year’s batch of ducklings. The fabulous four turned out to be 2 girls and 2 boys and they all went to the same home to live with Baby Girl's brothers and sisters! How cool they get to hang out with their aunts and uncles?!?!?! They now live a short 7 miles away which will make it easy for the country kids to go check in on them from time to time.

Now before you scream and smack your screen, hear me out.... This little spider has been living on our porch all summer. I see him every time I sit on the porch. I started talking to him at some point over the summer. He has kinda become a pet. I know which rail he lives by and I believe he knew I meant him no harm. This is the only photo I have my sweet little spidy. He disappeared a couple days ago and I honestly miss seeing him when I sit on the porch. I know, I am not right in the head, but it really is the little things you miss the most sometimes. So long little spidy, you sure were once heck of a bug catcher!

The littlest country kid found this wee ex-mouse in the hallway. He said it was still alive and he was keeping it. When I went to take the ex-mouse, he begged me not to kill it. I told him Nate had already done that. "It's just sleeping!!!" Ummm, no baby, it's an ex-mouse. I should not be fighting with a 5 year old at 6:30 am over the remains of an ex-mouse. So what did I do? I "let it go" in the yard so he would be happy

Around 1pm I got a call from the oldest country kid who was at school, asking me to bring him a new pair of underwear. My first thought was he had shat himself. But he explained he ripped his underwear jumping off the swing at recess. We have already talked to him about jumping off swings when he ripped his backpack last week, so I told him no. I told him to just go commando till pick up time. He didn't and when he got home he was in a hurry to take off his uncomfortable drawers. Yup, I'd say he destroyed those skivvies!

Moved the coffee can of rabbit food and the milk jug I keep the water in and....... This is NOT a designated laying area. I'm pretty sure it's Cinder. Being at the bottom of the pecking order means you have to wait your turn for a nest box, and, well, she obviously couldn't wait!

Not to brag, but I sooo totally am. LOL My hubby is amazing! Look at the scarf he knitted me!
He may be a pain in my ass from time to time, but over all, I'm a lucky girl

Just a beautiful country sun rise

Had a 40% off coupon so I decided to treat myself to some new needles for my sewing machine, since I broke my last one. I went for heavy duty needles, cause I'm a little rough on stuff. Maybe I need to learn to be a little gentler on my equipment LOL

Country roads, take me home. To the place, I belong.....

Hanging out at the zoo for the oldest country kid's autism program they host every month. Nothing like good company (other parents who get "it"), cool critters, and s'mores!

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
