CLEMMONS, North Carolina — In the field of education this year, it appears that a change is being made to bridge the gap between the education system and students.
Started in September 2010, founder of Facebook, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife Priscilla Chan, created a new education system that challenges students’ understanding of the educational framework and its benefits.
Education is really taking an innovative turn as Zuckerberg’s new system acquaints students with a more advanced educational system than they would have been exposed to prior. The program, known as Startup Education, is intended to create improvements in education for students, teachers and schools.
According to its mission, Startup Education is taking an approach to improve and expedite the growth of education for all students. The program is dedicated to enhancing the development of public education through the prioritization of classroom experiences, ensuring that every child can access the skills and opportunities they need to reach their utmost potential.
The program has launched a copious number of initiatives in order to affect public education on a large scale. According to Startup Education, some of its initiatives work to provide K-12 public schools with access to high-speed internet, while others provide college scholarships for highly-motivated students who cannot afford a college education.
While these initiatives are helping those who will truly benefit from its goals, these programs may also help inspire and assist children suffering from global poverty, such as students and teachers in less-developed nations who are struggling to provide a proper education for themselves. It is important to note that Mark Zuckerberg has stated, in an issue of LifeNews, that his philanthropic efforts will focus more on “children.”
Other introductory programs to help the education system include expanding the subject of computer science and increasing its exposure in classrooms, as well as helping school districts and state governments establish surveys that give more power to teachers, students and parents to improve the growth of schools and the health of local communities by providing high quality health care to people of all ages regardless of insurance, immigration status or capacity to pay.
By providing important services such as health care to people of all ages and giving more power to teachers in public schools, Startup Education can help eliminate global poverty for children and students so they can become healthier when going to schools on a regular day-to-day basis. When people are healthier and having their basic health needs met, they have the ability to become more successful in their education.
Also, giving teachers more liberty and freedom to teach their lessons in schools may expose the students to a more diverse and open curriculum than they would have access to in a more structured and rigid system.
Startup Education is now using $120 million to provide support for educational growth in the San Francisco Bay Area for the next five years.
Currently, Startup is planning to work with civic, education, community and district leaders to identify local necessities and recognize real innovations and programs. Startup aims to give educators and leaders throughout the Bay Area the resources they need to support student communities with low education and innovate the classroom.
When more advanced resources are provided to the students, low education becomes higher education. This creates more opportunities for the students who are currently affected by global poverty and are having difficulty accessing important resources in order to succeed in their school.
Local educators and community leaders have mentioned that their responsibilities include increasing innovation in the classroom, assisting in the training of a new generation of leaders and encouraging constant student development. The funds will be utilized for student leadership opportunities, providing more advanced transitions for students moving from middle school to high school and starting up leadership training for principals.
According to UP Global, Startup Education’s expansion into sixteen cities and three continents at the end of 2013 has rendered this non-profit the most influential in making education a free enterprise globally. The capability of Startup Education to fulfill its mission relies on its community and business partners.
Every Startup Education event is organized by a group of exceptional community leaders, individuals who offer their time, allowing others to play a role in changing the role of education. Startup Education is lucky to have over 120 community leaders across the globe. Startup Education is a place where any individual interested in education innovation can learn how to launch and measure their endeavors.
After providing many action-based opportunities for individuals who are passionate about innovating education, Startup Education has established an exceptional opportunity for anyone to morph the education system’s future while also eliminating global poverty in the process of its growth and development.
