MISD “2015” College and Career Night

Wed. Oct. 28th from 6-8:30 PM

At The MISD Performing Arts Center

A Thunderstorm! The lights go out! An agonized voice! A pistol shot! The lights come up! A blonde in black lace stands over the dead man holding a bloody dagger! The detective examines the body and announces "He's been strangled!” Every clue is a lulu and the plot twists furiously.

Don’t miss your chance to find out who did it at the MHS Theatre Departments production of While the Lights were Out.  Tonight and tommorow night at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts.  Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00.  Tickets are $3.00 in advance or $5.00 at the door.  You can get advance tickets in L1, L2 or L3 or with the book keeper this week.  Hope to see you there!

BASKETBALL SEASON IS NEAR!    Girls Basketball Tryouts begin next Wednesday October 21st at 3:15 PM.  If you are interested in trying out you must see Coach Goldberg or Coach Goolsby this week.  You must also have the appropriate physical paperwork turned into the trainers prior to trying out.  You will not be allowed to tryout if you have not talked to the coach or turned in a physical.

UIL LITERARY CRITICISM: If you love to read and love to analyze literature, this is the UIL event for you!!!This year we will be reading and studying:George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion and Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried and selected poetry by Robert Frost. Please come to R9 for an interest meeting October 21 at 3PM

Juniors & seniors interested in taking dual credit classes in the spring:  There are a few seats available in the following TCC classes for the spring.  You must speak to your counselor by this Friday, October 16 if you are interested in taking any of these dual-credit classes:

Biology

US History

Precalculus

Online Speech

Music Appreciation

Attention, any boys wishing to try out for the boy’s basketball team this year needs to attend a meeting on Tuesday, October 20th at 3:00 pm.  The meeting will be in Coach Speakes’ classroom, T-1.

Hey guys, In honor of Pay It Forward we will be taking donations for Cooks Children’s patients.  Please bring kid related items to Mr. Niemen’s room (F9) or Coach Patton’s room (T12). Donations can be coloring books, crayons, blankets, toys, puzzles…Basically stuff that you wanted and played with as a kid. We will be collecting donations until November 20th.

Congrats to the Tiger and Lady Tiger Cross Country teams as they competed at district yesterday.  The girls JV finished 3rd, but Megan Lewis won the race followed by Meaghan Sheehy in 2nd.  The boys JV finished just out of the top 3 but were led by Sean Esakov who just missed the top 10.  The boys varsity finished in 2nd place and will be advancing to regionals next week.  The boys had 2 top 10 finishers, Max Ramirez and Ryan Sterling.  On the girls side, the Lady Tigers varsity continued their dominance and won district.  The Lady Tigers top 10 finishers were led by race winner Alessia Williams, Hannah Allred 3rd, Alyssa Ramirez 4th, Anara Ickes 5th, and  Janisse Williams 9th. Congrats to all the runners on a great year.
