Not sure what to do this Easter long weekend in Vancouver? What, setting up an easter egg hunt in your 800sq foot apartment not sounding fun enough for you? That’s alright, we’ve got a list of several egg-citing things you can do this extra long weekend in Vancouver! So if you “decided” to take a staycation during the Easter long weekend, we’ve got plenty of cool stuff to pack your days with:

Fan Expo Vancouver

It’s an event not to be missed, full of costumes, comics, and cosplay. Fan Expo is the Comic Con of Vancouver, with celebrity guests, shopping, Q & A panels, and workshops. It’s the best place to be to find the newest and hottest in Anime, Manga, Comics, Sci-Fi, Gaming and Horror. Celebrity guests include: Tom Felton, Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Boyd, Lauren Cohan, authors, comic writers, and other special guests. Tickets are around $20-30 and are worth buying online ahead of time. Last year the lineups were pretty insane. If you don’t want to shell out cash, just hang out around the Vancouver Convention Centre to take pictures with the costumed-people. (more info)

World Ski & Snowboard Festival

Not as huge as years past, but still a great party–the World Ski & Snowboard Festival is full of fun, snowboarding, skiing, big jumps, and great live music. This free, 10-day celebration of snow sports, music, arts and mountain life, the WSSF has events for everyone of every age. April 11-20 at Whistler Blackcomb. Easter Beer Hunt

Kids always get to have all the fun on Easter. Why don’t they let us 20+ year olds in on those Easter Egg hunts all over town? Probably because we’d be way better at finding the eggs.. or our competitive sides would cause us to push their small bodies out of the way in a heated rush to become the EASTER EGG CHAMPION OF ALL THE CANDY. So why not organize your own Easter egg hunt, get everyone to pitch in and place some chocolate all over your apartment, house, front yard, or a park, and get stoked. Don’t like chocolate? Hide beer. Or those little packaged flavoured shots that are always by the cash registers at liquor stores.

Record Store Day

Remember records? They still exist and people still love to collect them! Forget CDs and MP3s it’s time to get back to your roots and start up a collection of records. No record player? Head to the Vancouver Flea Market to pick one up. Record Store Day is on Saturday, April 19th and it’s a celebration of record-slingers across the country! Live performances, great deals, and other awesome celebrations happening at all major record stores in Vancouver, including: Red Cat Records, Zulu, Neptoon and more. (more info)

420 Festival at the Vancouver Art Gallery

What’s that? In the sky? A giant cloud of smoke surrounding the VAG? Why does it smell like skunk? Why do I suddenly want to buy a slice of pizza? The festival that celebrates all things green is back this Sunday (4/20) as thousands of pot-enthusiasts gather by the front of the VAG to light up a doobie and celebrate the finer things in life. The 420 festival has live music, vendors, and lots and lots of weed. If you’re not into smoking, just stand around and watch as the giant cloud of smoke covers the downtown core.
