While the headset lacks the buttons and switches we have come to expect from many gaming headsets, it delivers in high quality sound and comfort.Tested as rigorously as aviation grade headsets for sound ambient sound suppression and audio quality, the MMX300 delivers crisp and clear audio in varied gaming environments. The headset utilizes a noise-compensating condenser microphone to deliver clear audio during those cooperative gaming sessions.
All in all this headset is built for solid audio performance.
Accompanying the stellar performance of the MMX 300 is an amazing design concept that assists with the noise cancelling as well as provides optimum comfort during gaming sessions. The closed back design of the headset reduces the amount of ambient noise during use. The replaceable ear cushions enhances the experience by providing unparalleled comfort. While no options have been listed for the leather head cushions, this removable option opens the device to the possibility of added customization.
Noticeably missing from the headset are any customizable on-board controls or PC software normally found on high end gaming headsets, such as offerings from Logitech or MadCatz. Also the lack of a mute button is a glaring omission from a decidedly high end device.
Overall, if you are serious about your gaming and need a headset that says as much, you cant go wrong with the MMX 300. However, at a price point of 415.00 USD it is really difficult to recommend this headset to the casual gamer. Additionally the decision not to offer on-board controls as well as a software package, leaves you feeling that customization options were not considered during the creation of the device. For those gamers who enjoy having custom macros set to their headset buttons, this device would be a huge let down, given its asking price.
