Holyholyholyholy heck! My new fave of the series. Wow. I am blown away, again, by Ms. Kennedy’s writing, and her ability to craft these action-packed romances. Sean and Bailey had this veiled passion that made it such a great romance, and with them working very closely on this mission, it set the stage for some amazing tension.
Bailey is a former-CIA agent now-assassin for Noelle. Just as all of Noelle’s women, she’s in the business for a reason. She hides behind her job and her ability to lie. I truly enjoyed Bailey. She was completely likable, and a total badass. But you felt for her; she was approachable. She’s tough and she’s fiercely independent, but underneath it all she really wants closeness. I was completely impressed with how awesome she was with her skills, but also how she had this way of protecting herself.
Sean Reilly (along with his twin Ollie) are masters of Intel. They know everything there is to know about everyone. Morgan has used the brothers for a lot of recent missions, and in that time, we’ve seen the tension between him and Bailey. Sean is an Irishman with a fierce heart. He lives close to his emotions, which sometimes cloud his way. His emotions for Bailey cloud his mind whenever she’s near, but he can’t help the pull he has towards her. Sean was intense and sexy. You felt his raw passion in all things, and couldn’t help but want all that was him to eclipse her. I think what I loved the most is that while he was a total alpha, he had a way with reining that in when he was around her because he knew how tough she was, and that she could handle herself. Even if the alpha in him wanted to protect her, he knew she was fully capable.
I was enraptured from the get go. The storytelling was incredible, and it sucked me right in. The dynamic between Sean and Bailey was lustful and emotional. You could feel the passion passing between the characters, and you could see the growth as each interaction slowly pulled them together. Sean slowly cracked away at the hidden woman until he broke through to the new her. The real her. I’m still blown away by the storylines that Ms. Kennedy makes up and is able to write so flawlessly.
(On a side note: holy crapola – Liam and Sully!! I’m pretty sure I freaking need their story now. The build-up between them in the last book and this one? So freaking ridiculously steamy. I. Cannot. Wait.)
