I had to practice my craft yet again with another fantasy football mock draft on NFL.com, they say practice makes perfect. I don’t think anyone is perfect, but I do believe that practice makes you better, and I certainly want to be as good as I can be on draft day…in 73 days – That sure is a long time to wait.

Here’s what happened:

R1 – pick 5: Todd Gurley, It’s hard for me to pass on a stud, feature RB, so I had to pick Todd Gurley. Gurley was named the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the year last year and totaled 1,106 yards, 4.8 yards per carry and 10 rushing TDs, after missing the first two games of the season and finished as the number five RB in fantasy football with 186 points.

R2 – pick 16: Allen Robinson, again, it was hard to pass up on a stud WR. Robinson finished fourth last year in WR fantasy points with 224. The other Allen (Hurns) was the number 14 WR with 161 fantasy points and Jacksonville QB, Blake Bortles finished the season as the number four QB with 386 points. I really like the Jaguars this year. I think they will be a dangerous team. I can see their defense being good as well. Now, if they can somehow work the TE into the system this year, TE, Julius Thomas finished 15th with only 75 fantasy points last year.

R3 – pick 25: Carlos Hyde, I foresee Hyde being a big part of the Chip Kelly, up tempo, San Francisco offense. Hyde finished 2015 with 115 carries totaling a measly 470 yards and 11 catches for 53 yards, but only played in seven games. I expect his catches to increase dramatically in Kelly’s offense.

R4 – pick 36: Ben Roethlisberger, Big Ben is touted by some to be a top three fantasy football QB behind Cam Newton and Aaron Rodgers.

R5 – pick 45: Jeremy Maclin, it’s a proven fact that WRs get more fantasy points than RBs. However, I’m not fully committed to the zero RB fantasy football strategy just yet; the zero RB fantasy football strategy is where you don’t draft a RB until the later rounds as far back as round six. But what RB would you get in round 6? You would get a RB by committee for sure and I’m not down with that.

R6 – pick 56: Matt Jones, speaking of a RB, I better snatch another one up. And Jones is supposed to be a feature back in Washington with Alfred Morris jetting off to Dallas.

R7 – pick 65: Ladarius Green, I have been waiting for Green to have a break out season and this HAS to be it! Heath Miller retired and Martavis Bryant is suspended for the entire 2016 season, Roethlisberger needs someone to throw the ball to besides Antonio Brown, right!

R8 – pick 76: Duke Johnson, time for another RB, Johnson should be a serviceable RB on the bench.

R9 -pick 85: Ameer Abdullah, Abdullah can ride the bench until I need him too.

R10 – pick 96: Philip Rivers, Rivers is an awesome QB to be on the bench.

R11- pick 105: Corey Coleman, Coleman, WR, has a high ceiling for a rookie.

R12 – pick 116: Devante Parker, Parker, WR, in the twelfth round is a steal.

R13 -pick 125: Dewayne Allen with Coby Fleener now in New Orleans, it should open up more opportunities for Allen and I’ll take that in the 13th round.

R14 – pick 136: New England Defense, time for a defense.

R15 – pick 145: Brandon McManus, time for a kicker.

I sent this roster into Footballguys.com, they rated my team, and this is what they said about my fantasy football prowess:

“Congratulations! You seem to have grabbed quality players at every turn of this draft. It’s rare indeed to be better than the average team at the three core positions (quarterback, running back and receiver), but we think this team is.”

“You must be among the favorites in this league and have positioned yourself to grab one of the playoff spots. But before you start engraving the trophy, realize that the draft is not the end of the story. Things can and do go wrong, so you need to remain diligent throughout the year to ensure you remain strong until the playoffs.”

“Players we particularly like on this team include Duke Johnson, Jeremy Maclin, A.J. Green, Philip Rivers, and Ameer Abdullah. We have all these guys ranked ahead of where they are typically being drafted.”

“With great in season management, we think you have about an 85 percent chance of making the playoffs.”

I say, let’s start engraving Jerry’s Kids on that trophy, oh yeah; this was only a mock draft. I always forget that part. I am curious to see how my real draft turns out in 73 days though. I hope it’s close to the above team, follow my team, Jerry’s Kids @JerrysKidz on Twitter. I wonder if I follow all my favorite NFL players I am targeting, if they will follow me back? Jameis Winston is already following me. I may have to welcome him to Jerry’s Kids. Ray Lewis follows me as well; too bad he is retired though. Wish me luck.
