2016 is mixed years for 100cr club films. Many big films failed to cross this milestone while some films nailed it. Here is 100cr Club Bollywood films of 2016 which proved content is really king.
Sultan is only film that compete with All time highest grossing Bollywood films and got third position after PK and Bajrangi Bhaijan.
Akshay Kumar’s three consecutive films in a year crossed this milestone that proved people likes content based films.
Shahrukh Khan, Varun Dhawan and Shahid Kapoor’s films failed to cross 100cr while all the films had good potential. Hrithik Roshan’s film Mohenjo Daro is another example of failure.
One of the disasters of this year was Great Grand Masti. The film was part of the very successful series Masti. Grand Masti was crossed 100cr while it failed to cross 20cr.
We are also waiting some 100cr club films like Dangal, Shivaay, Adhm, Befikre etc if these films received good reviews then we will update this list.
100cr Club Bollywood films of 2016
1. Sultan – 300cr
Sultan entered in 100cr club, 200cr club and now its the part of 300cr club films. Only two films Pk and Bajrangi Bhaijan were the part of 300cr club. The list of Salman Khan’s hit films (according to Indicine’s box office analysis) has become very strongest. Salman Khan’s last three films proved he is the real king of Bollywood. Sultan become first All Time Blockbuster of 2016. It crossed Airlift’s lifetime collection in 4 days and become highest grossing bollywood films of 2016.
Salman Khan have 6 All time blockbuster films means he have highest number of all time blockbuster films in his pocket. Aamir Khan also have 5 All Time blockbuster films.
2. Airlift 128cr
Airlift was releasing along side with Kya Kool Hain Hum 3. It nailed it and become first 100cr club film of 2016. The film is competing with Akshay Kumar’s other 100cr club films. It becomes 2nd highest grossing film for Akshay Kumar according to blogtobollywood.
Airlift was first Super-hit movie of this year. Here is Airlift’s lifetime collection with verdict. It set the milestone of 128cr which break by Sultan in 7th Month.
3. Rustom 108cr
Rustom was also releasing alongside with MohenJo daro. The film become third consecutive 100cr club film for Akshay Kumar. Airlift and Housefull3 also did it. Rustom have great chance to become highest grossing film for Akshay Kumar. It’s still running smoothly in theaters.
Rustom is big budget film but it recovered all the amount of producers and distributors. It means the film is another hit for Akki.
4. Housefull 3 100cr
Housefull 3 was the part of Housefull series. All the films of this series become very successful in the terms of business. It become highest opening day film for Akki, collected more than 15cr.
Housefull 3 recovered all the investment and become the second consecutive hit. Abhishek Bachchan and Reteish Deshmukh was also featured in this film.
