Position Title: Clinical Consultant, Medical Surgical Systems
Territory: London Based (Covering South of UK)
Reporting To: Clinical Solutions Manager
Purpose
In a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive healthcare environment, we are seeking to recruit a new Clinical Consultant to further strengthen our organisational capabilities in the UK/Ireland region with specific focus on the London Health Economy. The role will be full-time and regionally based. The role provides strategic clinical support and expertise to both the sales and marketing organisation for MSS (including hypodermic, infusion therapy and regional anaesthesia).
Main Responsibilities
* Support the regional sales team in developing sales opportunities and achieving territory and regional budget targets set for the financial year.
* Support the regional sales team through joint customer visits including providing coaching and product training.
* Build credibility within the clinical environment and provide safety- focused clinical consultancy.
* The implementation and continual development of a robust induction programme designed to accommodate the needs of a commercial sales team. Assist with regional/national training needs.
* Continual assessment of the clinical knowledge and product knowledge needs of the sales team through communication with the team and the Regional Sales Manager. To include regular review of their clinical skills, product knowledge and training abilities.
* Support the Marketing Manager and Product Manager in the development of product campaigns, product clinical guidelines, product literature and product launches.
* Help maintain and continually update the clinical/product database with relevant articles, reports and national guidelines.
* Build strong relationships with strategic Key Opinion Leaders in order to support the product portfolio. Help secure their attendance and support at conferences, study days, company events. Develop BD clinical regional study days.
* Develop and maintain reference sites to support product portfolio and training needs.
* Work with the Clinical Trials Department to ensure that products are supported with robust data.
* Undertake market research to establish clinical trends, customer requirements for products and to ascertain information on competitor activity through mediums such as voice of the customer.
* Manage product complaints which require clinical investigation.
* Co-develop educational material and clinical programmes to support sales/products/customers.
* Facilitate the publication of clinical papers in healthcare journals to support the product portfolio (written by clinicians and supported by the BD Clinical Team).
* Support customers with their vascular access needs, audits, policies, guideline development and specialist product requirements.
* Co-develop with the medical management team the short and mid term clinical marketing plans for the UK/Ireland region.
Qualifications:
* RGN/HCW (eg.ODP/Paramedic) qualification essential. Educated to degree level preferably in a health, business or marketing specialism (desirable).
* ENB 998 Training and Assessment in Clinical Practice or equivalent (desirable).
* NMC registration
* Proven track record of clinical success in the private medical or NHS environment.
* A strong strategic thinker, who anticipates trends and can contribute to creating competitive breakthrough strategies.
* Good commercial acumen: previous commercial experience is essential
* Experience of sales success and with a good understanding of the consultative selling process.
* Demonstrate good problem solving skills and approach in a planned and process orientated manner.
* Confident in giving presentations to small and large customer groups (internal and external).
* Demonstrates excellent communication skills that work effectively with all levels of customers both internal and external.
* Action and results oriented in a highly competitive market.
* Good understanding of project management.Coaching and man-management experience an advantage.
* Previous experience within the commercial healthcare environment, highly desirable.
* Principles of marketing; understanding of the NHS acute care sectors and private hospital groups; knowledge of key customers; understanding & knowledge of medical procedures; understanding of procurement procedures, NHSSC (highly desirable).
* Is able to implement agreed programmes and get exceptional results through others.
* Must be well organised, able to prioritise appropriately and display good time management skills.
* Is able use IT as an aide to analysing data, problem solving and effective communication.
* Is able to travel around allocated region and to the office and remain flexible with time spent away from home (overnight hotel stays will be needed).
