The Automation Technician II has general responsibility for the support of engineering capital projects, including the installation, removal, relocation, repair, inspection and calibration of high speed automated manufacturing and packaging equipment and systems. This position also provides subject matter expertise (SME) and back up support to the manufacturing floor in the maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventative maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and systems.
Working in cGMP consistent manner, the Automation Tech II is responsible for the following duties and activities:
· Installing, removing, relocating, inspecting, calibrating and/or validating highly automated equipment such as High Speed Vision Systems, Siemens, PLC’s and/or Factory Talk View SCADA systems.
· Troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment as an SME in both the support of engineering projects and the manufacturing production floor.
· Properly resourcing and utilizing manuals, SOPs, specifications, and other workplace aids,
· Actively communicating project status timelines and updates with engineering and other cross functional stakeholders,
· Preparing, editing and/or updating documents to include maintenance, quality, production, CCs and other documents/reports as deemed appropriate,
· completing assigned training in a timely manner
· training new and existing personnel as required,
· Promote safe work practices,
· Participating in and leading, as assigned, continuous improvement projects,
· Monitors the work of others to include contracted vendors,
· Other duties as assigned.
The technician must be able to work both independently and as a team member. Considerable independent judgment and initiative is required to solve challenging workplace problems.
Scope of Responsibility:
· Strategic Impact/Accountability – This position is accountable for the installation, maintenance, and modifications of High Speed automated Systems. His/her work product directly impacts finished product quality, safety, and efficacy.
Sphere of Influence (liaison) – Collaborates with all site personnel to include area management.
Impact of Results:
· Degree of Accountability (discretion/supervision) – The technician is accountable to the Senior Automation Engineer.
· Financial Impact - Sound decisions and creative initiatives that result in the attainment of stated division and site goals

Qualifications:
Education/Experience and Skills/Knowledge Required:
· Associates Degree or Licensed Journeyman
· Minimum of 5 years of work experience in troubleshooting or mechanical role in an highly automated manufacturing operation. Pharmaceutical experience is a plus.
· A minimum of 1 year experience with controls and control systems to include SCADA and PLC.
· Demonstrated effective work planning skills
· Ability to effectively communicate and contribute to cross functional teams.
· Medium-Heavy work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Must be willing to work multiple shifts, as needed.
· Previous experience in the installation, maintenance and modification of High Speed Automation Equipment, Vision Systems, Siemens PLC’s and Factory Talk View SCADA systems.
· Working knowledge of a RSLogix 5000 PLC Software and Factory Talk View ME a plus.
