General Function:

Operate, repair and adjust production equipment to produce product which conforms to quality specifications, at specified output rates. Must support 24/7 business operation by potentially working overtime and weekends, as required.

May require assignments in multiple manufacturing areas within the department / plant. Performs assignments that are complex in nature and requires ability to operate a variety of production equipment to meet product and quality specifications. May determine methods and procedures on new or changing assignments. Uses independant judgement in evaluating and operating process equipment and instrumentation to ensure constant compliance with SMPs (Standard Manufacturing Procedures). Monitors meters, gauges, temperatures, pressures, and related controls. Interprets complex drawings, diagrams, charts and specifications. Generates reports, graphs, and other data. Performs complex work to close tolerances, high quality and accuracy. Maintains accurate records and logs in accordance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO9000 (International Organization for Standardization). Effectively works in team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements.

Essential Functions:

* Set-up and operate machines independently per established procedures, to manufacture product which conforms to quality specifications, at specified output rates.
* Document Quality Checks and Run Records accurately and completely.
* Repair, adjust and trouble-shoot machinery including dismantling, replacement of parts, reassembling and verification of correct operation of machinery.
* Maintain a thorough knowledge of all products produced in the department, raw materials required, and product quality specifications.
* Requisition raw materials, supplies and spare parts as needed to maintain production and equipment. Perform required repairs as determined by PM''s, TPM''s and breakdowns.
* Perform assigned PM''s, TPM''s and maintain 100% on-time completion.

* Support PM Planner to achieve PM Cost savings goals.
* Notify business leadership of major or repetitive equipment problems and help to develop corrective action strategy for resolution and implementation.
* Support Safety and Lean initiatives within work area and perform safety audits within area to maintain a safe work environment. Participate fully to achieve the department''s safety goals and objectives.
* Reports to Molding Engineering Coordinator. Executes additional duties as required.
* Works independently within department as well as working effectively and accurately with the department''s technical, quality and engineering disciplines, and with limited supervision.
* Must be familiar with all specifications as outlined in the Manufacturing Set-Up Procedures, Process and Product Specifications, Preventive Maintenance and Quality System Manuals, blueprints, and cGMP manuals, which per pertain to this operaration.

* Be available to report to work during off shift hours to aid in operations, set-up or machine repair as required by business need. This job requires some evening/weekend & off-shift coverage/overtime.
* Must comply with department protective clothing, safety, clean room/gowning and management policies.
* The operations of this position may specify the use of chemicals. In such cases, completion of periodic Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and Right-to-Know training will be required for the use of these chemicals.

**Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:**

* High School and Vocational School Diploma and/or a minimum of five years related trades training or equivalent work experience in manufacturing setup, maintenance, repair and operation is required.
* Must have completed formalized vocational training or have obtained equivalent knowledge through experience in the operation and maintenance of:
* Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems (valves, cylinders, flow controls).
* Mechanical Mechanisms (linkages, cams, gears, chains/sprockets).
* Fundamental Electrical Wiring/Troubleshooting.
* Lubrication.
* Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the use of hand tools and electrical meters. Must be able to read, understand and follow hazardous waste handling procedures to comply with EPA requirements.
* Basic Proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of Excel and Word.
* Experience in a high volume, high speed, medical molding company is preferred.
* Ability to work independently as well as effectively work in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
* Ability to make effective decisions relative to the position requirements that directly affect department performance. Able to set priorities, solve problems and initiate action.
* Previous experience working as a Molding or Mechanical Technician is desirable.
* Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) to engineering, quality, management, internal/facilities maintenance departments and external contractors and vendors.
* Use mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and electrical working knowledge and skills to operate, analyze, troubleshoot, adjust and repair complex equipment and machinery.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications as required.
* Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments is essential.
* Must maintain constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.
* Lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment and machinery, exerting 50 to 100lbs occasionally, or 25-50 lbs frequently, or 10-20 lbs constantly is required (AMA/PCP Level 4) Heavy Work verification is required).
* Must be able to work in awkward and difficult positions when reqired.
* Must be proficient at reading and writing in English.
