A Special Journey Hosted by Kathleen McGowan & Susan Marek

September 24-October 3, 2014

Brittany is a fascinating mix of spectacular coastline, ancient towns, magical islands and inland woods. A Celtic duchy for more than one thousand years before its annexation to France in 1532, it is a land rich in culture, tradition and history. When your journey through this Western peninsula, you’ll discover a people whose language, customs and dress remain a vivid homage to their past. Highlights of our journey will include Carnac and the surrounding region, one of the foremost prehistoric centers famed for its megalithic remains from the Neolithic period. In addition to Menhirs, massive stones erected by tribes who inhabited the region before the arrival of the Gauls, the area is studded with burial places, semicircles and tumuli. Mont Saint Michel and its unique setting, beauty and architecture… a “wonder of the western world” and one of the major monuments of interest in France, Mont St. Michel is the second most visited place in all of France after the Eiffel Tower. And of course Paris, the “City of Lights” is enchanting at every turn, at any time and in every season. The river Seine divides the city in two, the right and left banks, both are great for exploring and touring. The Cathedral of Notre Dame, the famous Champ-Elyees, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower. Names alone that conjure up the magnificence of this classically renowned city, around every corner and narrow street. Paris does not disappoint with its quaint splendor, character, beauty that simply glistens with riches to be explored.
