Alex Gill (15) from Northallerton, North Yorkshire followed in his grandfather David Boston Barker and uncle Paul Barker’s footsteps by gaining a Horse of the Year Show win on Friday 11th October 2013. His victory came in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers National Showjumping Championship 2013.
Alex piloted Wildwood Silver, a 7 year-old grey gelding owned by Lynn Barker, to the top spot, producing one of only four double clears. Alex delivered his double clear in 43.81 seconds to beat the twenty-five other combinations in the Championship.
“It’s fantastic to win here,” said Alex, “I’ll be trying to win with him again in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship”
Alex and Wildwood Silver were presented with a Championship Rug, a winner’s medal and a winner’s jacket. They were joined in the prize-giving by Clare Blaskey, Managing Director; Sarah Butler, Office Manager & Nutritional Specialist and Liz Driver, Marketing Manager at Blue Chip Feed Ltd.
