The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior communications professional to lead the promotion of Bloomberg Media's regional newsgathering, programming and commercial operations at a time of major investment and evolution in the division's infrastructure.

Bloomberg Media includes Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Markets, Pursuits and Businessweek magazines, Bloomberg's consumer-facing digital and mobile properties and its conference arm Bloomberg LIVE.

The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the image of Bloomberg Media as a global innovator and trusted information source through executing proactive, strategic and effective external communications campaigns and tactics to ensure the unique voice of Bloomberg Media is present in other print, broadcast and digital media.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications for Bloomberg L.P. in EMEA and working closely with the first Managing Director of Bloomberg Media in EMEA, the successful candidate will also need to collaborate with the comms teams responsible for Bloomberg Media in the U.S. and Asia Pacific to manage the development and execution of strategic external trade (B2B) and consumer (B2C) communications plans for the region.

This position will have a close working relationship with Bloomberg Media's reporters, anchors, producers and editors to leverage the content in an effort to raise the visibility of the award-winning business news journalism, positioning it within the international media as the number one, multi-platform destination for business news and analysis.

The candidate will also be directing PR activity to support the media sales and commercial distribution teams as well as working closely with the marketing and social media leads across Bloomberg Media in EMEA to ensure optimal coordination and consistent messages are communicated externally.

The role will include oversight of speaking opportunities for senior executives and top talent and coordinating EMEA PR activities during set-piece news events and breaking news.

The candidate will also be expected to ensure comms activities for Bloomberg Media are consistent with those in other areas within Bloomberg L.P. and ensure a constant information flow is established within the communications community.

The successful candidate will have strong contacts with other influential broadcast and print media (including the major TV and radio networks and major daily papers, blogs and news aggregators throughout EMEA), and he/she should be able to produce placements almost immediately upon starting.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Provide strategic counsel, briefing and support for journalists and business executives promoting Blomberg Media's brands corporately in EMEA

* Write strong and dynamic pitches based on technical and complex issues

* Handle and fulfil media interview requests and develop, organise and maintain a powerful media database

* Work on a day-to-day basis with the commercial director and his direct reports and other key Blomberg Media personnel to promote corporate and commercial initiatives among corporate target audience sectors

* Ensure robust monitoring and evaluation systems are in place

* Write press releases/announcements and presentations, assisting key Bloomberg Media personnel with drafting of comments etc. if required

* Handle press enquiries for Bloomberg Media on corporate affairs and ensure the EMEA and global communications team is appraised of statements and Q&As; as required

* Work with the global team identifying and organising speaker opportunities and top-tier media opportunities for the CEO, MD, Chairman and other senior Bloomberg Media personnel.

* Spokesperson support including briefing, creating speaker platforms, help with Q&As; and organising media training where required

* Manage the day-to-day promotion of editorial scoops and Bloomberg wins, positioning of Bloomberg journalists as experts on the news agenda

* Build the authoritative profile for key Bloomberg Media executives in target media/among target audiences.

* Draft weekly internal reports on activity for the senior comms management coordinating quarterly reports with the wider EMEA comms team

Required Experience:

* Degree educated or equivalent with strong PR, communications and marketing skills including previous experience in a large media organisation

* A respected communications professional with a demonstrable contact base with the relevant trade and national press

* Ability to write strong pitches, press releases, talking points, background memos, speeches and remarks for senior level managers

* Demonstrated experience in developing and executing comprehensive communications plans and strategies

* Strong internal stakeholder management

* Good international knowledge of the news market

* An understanding of how a newsroom works, deadlines and newslines

* Strong knowledge of the media industry in general and the kind of issues that would affect Bloomberg Media as a commercial operator in the business news sector

* Crisis communications experience

* A proven track record in independent thinking, a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, articulate, assertive and persuasive

* A hunger to introduce new ways of working in today's digital environment to get your messages across

* A flexible approach is required to be able to provide occasional additional support to your EMEA Bloomberg L.P. colleagues and some out of hours work

* Ability to prioritise several different projects and multiple internal stakeholders under heavy media pressure
