The UFC rankings were shook to their core by the three events this weekend, and there's new man atop the pound-for-pound list.
This weekend's events caused a major stir in a bunch of UFC divisions. With two new full champions and one new interim champ, things have been bonkers. In addition to that, just when he had regained his top spot in the UFC P4P list, Jon Jones was forced out of his chance at redemption by USADA, and lost that spot too. In his place steps in a guy that announced just this weekend that he has to pull out of his next fight, ironically enough.
That man is Demetrious Johnson.
Here's a look at allllll the changes to the rankings. Be prepared - this is going to take a while to read.
P4P - Johnson is the new top man on the list. Dominick Cruz moved up to number two. Jones dropped two spots to three. Rafael dos Anjos' loss sent him tumbling down the list, so Conor McGregor moved up to five, Daniel Cormier moved to six, and Jose Aldo to seven. New lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez entered the list at eight. Joanna Jedrzejczyk moved up three spots to nine. Stipe Miocic is up one to ten. Michael Bisping dropped two to 11, while Luke Rockhold moved up one to 12. RDA fell all the way to 13. Frankie Edgar fell four spots to 14. T.J. Dillashaw re-entered the list at 15. Wooboy.
Heavyweight - Brock Lesnar is a top-ten UFC heavyweight once again, coming in at eight. Mark Hunt dropped one to nine. Josh Barnett also dropped one to ten. Derrick Lewis is up one to 11 after his win over Roy Nelson. Nelson dropped two to 12, while Frank Mir dropped two to 13 (and will be removed when he's formally suspended). Stefan Struve dropped one to 14, and Ruslan Magomedov dropped one to 15.
Light Heavyweight - No changes.
Middleweight - Gegard Mousasi moved up one spot to seven with his UFC 200 win, dropping Lyoto Machida one spot to eight.
Welterweight - The next 170-pound title challenger, Tyron Woodley, dropped from a tie for three to four. Kelvin Gastelum is up six huge spots to six with his win over Johny Hendricks, who dropped two spots to eight. Matt Brown is down one to nine, Rick Story is down one to ten, Dong Hyun Kim is down two to 11, and Gunnar Nelson is down one to 12.
Lightweight - Alvarez is the new champ. RDA didn't even stay as the # 1 contender, dropping to two behind Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nate Diaz passed Donald Cerrone for the four spot. Dustin Poirier and Michael Chiesa are up one spot each, to eight and nine respectively, while Michael Johnson falls two to ten. Former Bellator champ Will Brooks, fresh off his win over Ross Pearson, debuts on the list at 12. Al Iaquinta dropped one to 13. Evan Dunham dropped two to 15.
Featherweight - Other than Aldo becoming an interim champ, there were no changes.
Bantamweight - Johnny Eduardo passed Frankie Saenz for the 12 spot.
Flyweight - John Moraga fell three spots to nine after his loss to Matheus Nicolau. This allowed Zach Makovsky, Wilson Reis, and Ali Bagautinov to move up one spot each to six, seven, and eight respectively. Nicolau debuts on the list at 13, with Ray Borg and Sergio Pettis falling one spot to 14 and 15.
Women's Bantamweight - Amazingly, Amanda Nunes is your new champion. Miesha Tate drops to number one contender, with Holly Holm dropping to two and Ronda Rousey dropping to three. Julianna Pena's big win over Cat Zingano moved her up a spot to four. Zingano's now at five. Marion Reneau also passed Ashlee Evans-Smith for the 14 spot.
Women's Strawweight - No changes.
