In the far distant past, women’s major role was to bear children and care for them. As part of that caring, women got very involved in food preparation, which in many cultures expanded to include agricultural efforts to raise food as well as collecting water, gathering fuel for cooking, and making of objects needed by the family such as pottery and clothing.

We have however, entered an era where women can now compete in the workplace for jobs that were once traditionally held by men. Unfortunately the number of women with white collar jobs is still low compared to men, but it is hope to those who agree with me when I say,’’ what a man can do, a woman can do.’’ There is the exception of course, of a few key distinctions in our physiques, which hinders us from performing certain jobs but my focus is on the jobs that require one to think and use their brains.

A wise woman once said, ‘’If you can find something that you’re really passionate about, whether you’re a man or a woman comes a lot less into play. Passion is a gender-neutralizing force.’’

Take the technology field for example; It’s not a secret that there are fewer women in tech than there are men. But let me share with you a few of the many women who have gone an extra mile, explored their potentials and landed in great positions.

Do you want me to go on? I could, but am going to leave that to you. If you still think that some jobs are too hard to be done by a woman, I have news for you: these phenomenal women were not born with supernatural powers; they were cute little babies just like the rest of us, but as they grew up, they chased their dreams and put their all in it. It not hard, you just need to START and the rest you will learn.

Fellow women, lets run the world, can you just imagine how exhilarating it will be! Right now am imagining every nation with either a female president or a female vice president, what a world!

For the women who do choose a tech career, the sky’s the limit. There’s plenty of opportunity to become a power player, at big companies and hot start-ups alike.
