Welcome to our Autumn instalment of Style Your Wardrobe, the fabulous new show concept to help you maximise the clothes in your wardrobe, give you stylish inspiration on new outfit ideas and round up the biggest trends for the coming season.
With the arrival of Autumn we’ve teamed up with the lovely Katie Powell, a fashion expert at QVC and personal stylist and shopper behind The Wardrobe Insider, one of London and Surrey’s leading personal styling agencies.
Working round the clock to ensure women feel amazing in their clothes and helping them to understand what works for them, Katie is always excited to help her clients achieve that unstoppable confidence through their wardrobe.
Before we got into shooting for the Style Your Wardrobe series, we decided it would be fun to give our QVC fashionistas a little sneak peek at what goes on behind the scenes with a Facebook Live video broadcast. Katie was super-enthusiastic and couldn’t wait to get going! We had a shaky start but things soon came together as we saw Katie in her element talking about what she loves most – fashion!
Katie has put together some great looks for autumn to help you maximise the pieces in your wardrobe and highlight key fashion stories for the current season. We wanted to share some of the behind-the-scenes imagery from our shoot and for Katie to tell you a bit more about the inspiration behind the looks she put together. Here’s what she had to say…
“As a personal stylist and shopper, the start of each season is always incredibly busy – helping women to navigate their way through the new season’s trends to build stylish outfits and prepping their wardrobes to ensure they look and feel amazing.
“So you can imagine how much I love doing the Style Your Wardrobe shows – a time to celebrate the turn of the season and showcase all the wonderful new collections coming through. Favoured as the most exciting time of the year when it comes to fashion, this instalment is all about autumn style.
“Like always with this fabulous show, it’s about showcasing some of the key trends from the designer catwalks, which you can get your hands on for a fraction of the price, but also outlining some of those timeless fashion looks that we all want to master, like the effortless layering look.
“This is all about having the right cut of pieces to make layering look feminine rather than bulky. I am in love with the Chelsea Muse by Christopher Fink duster jacket that I used in this outfit; it’s such a statement look and very easy to wear. Also, check out the Clarks leather ‘over the knee’ boots, they are so luxe and form a key part of this style.
“One of my most favourite transformations for the autumn season is the world of denim – it had such a sophisticated make-over with designers like Chanel giving us denim and pearls, Paul & Joe creating a chic denim suit, but in our master-class we preview a fab denim dress from Kim & Co. It’s a perfect blend of comfort and style and enables you to elevate your denim wardrobe to a really smart place.
“And if it’s evening wear you’re after, then you need to get involved with our ‘Shine Bright’ set of looks – we are talking pure class here and making sure you have a sequin hero piece in your wardrobe to throw on for those sparkly occasions. The Trinny & Susannah tunic looks so high end so I have a feeling that will be very popular.
“Whatever your personal style when it comes to the outfits, you will most certainly need a gorgeous coat when the colder weather hits and, oh my goodness, this is exciting. Faux fur has been beautifully revived by the legend that is Dennis Basso and my burgundy choice is absolutely lush. But at the other end of the spectrum, it’s about updating your classic coat to give you a majestic finish to your outfit. Cue oversized collars, rich shades and stunning wrap coats.
“Now, this show wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t unveil the most popular colour palette for the autumn season and, good news if you’re a fan of your neutrals as dusky tones is the shade to be seen in.
“From Michelle Hope’s textural trousers in soft, shimmering rose, which are just divine, to Marble’s chunky cardigan, which can finish off any casual outfit, this delicate and dreamy tone will lift your entire autumn wardrobe. Enjoy, ladies!”
