Had a fab time at the annual QVC host-bash – including a fun bouncy secret santa – (can you guess what I took? See below). Also I spotted my own first novel on a bookstore shelf with my own eyes – and took a ‘shelfie’! lol. This is in WHsmith Victoria. Let me know if you’ve spotted it near you! email me debbie@debbieflint.com. PLUS news below of how to get an invite to my book launch in January!

PRESENTER’S CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Oh my did we have fun on Tuesday at our annual bash – lovely food in the nearby Napa restaurant – super secret santas (my gift went down very well – and up and down, and up and down, actually – can you guess which it was? ‘Specially  if you’ve seen some of the other presenters posting about what they got?) it’s always lovely to spend time with more than one or two fellow presenters and everyone was on fine form specially my lovely mate Craigy! Watch out for others’ pics this week and next – the second ‘sitting’ is next week with the rest of the team.

Guests and Presenters’ XMAS SUPPER

And a really fun evening ‘up London’ going ‘out out’ (haha!) with several more of my colleagues – this time Lee and Patrick and Craigy and Marie Francoise from Kipling. We went to Patrick’s club near Covent Garden and just chilled. We were going to go to the theatre but got chatting and ended up just chinwagging and having a great catch up – must do that more often. These are several of my most favourite people in the world! Very busy week though for me!

Red Carpet Treatment for my Sis in Best Mag

Well how about this! In the week my book also appeared in the Chiswick Bookshop, my very own sister Linda Bignell wrote a feature in Best Magazine on how to achieve perfect gel nails at home. Well done that girl! My little sis is very talented, and generous too – at her Elemis salon inside Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton they do all the usual, plus nails, plus every now and then they put on special Treat Yourself days for mums of disabled kids and carers, using sample products. She’s such a star. Follow @surreyhealthspa on Twitter, if you have it.

Family Bash

Yes it was that time of year again, and on Sunday about 40 of my family descended on the local village hall. We had secret Santas, best jumper competitions, a xmas quiz, (my team came second)  and some lovely food and banter. Am the eldest of five and there are 16 grandchildren, my mum is the one in the middle! Another good year’s get together.

Irish Xmas Ad

If you’re in Ireland you may see this every yuletide – well the music is by my fabulously talented composer mate Kevin Sargent. So many people to be proud of this week!

Proud of me too

And when I posted my pic about finally finding my own book in WHSmithTravel in Victoria, I got some lovely comments – including two very well known QVC faces who made me swell with pride!

Next week – my first independent bookshop stocks, and being interviewed for local magazine show.

Book of the Week – Jessica’s Christmas Kiss by my talented fellow Choc Lit author, Alison May is my top tip for this week – it’s on preorder, out Saturday (12th) and I can’t wait to read it – she’s a very funny writer. Perfect for this time of the year eh? Go to my Read It Write It Sell It blog on my website for more plus the latest news about my book and it’s very exciting!

Another proud moment – Carol Singing with LuLu –

Ok so we rehearsed a little in the dressing room before this week’s Today’s Special Value finale with the lovely songstress, and this was the result – during a knock out day for Lulu’s skincare range. Gave me an idea that perhaps we could create some sort of charity album – Medical Detection Dogs would love it! lol. Don’t know if Lulu would though… or people’s ears… hehe. Here’s the moment once again –

Posara Ladies who Lunch

Had a super catch up with some of my lovely writing group this week too. Litty who is finishing her Masters in novel writing, Carolyn who is publishing her own second romantic suspense novel soon and Maureen, who as ‘Merryn Allingham’ has achieved some fabulous sales this year with her ‘Girl from Cobb Street’ series and has written 12 books in the six years since we all went to Italy on that first writing course. If you have a long memory you might recall it was one of my first blogs when I came back to QVC.

Take a Chance on Me Down Under

Well in the week that I spotted my book for the first time in a proper bookstore, news about my steamy romance has reached Australia! Blogger Renee has done this fabulous review- plus she’s written a quick reminder of what the book is all about. Here’s what she said –

Told in alternating POV between Sadie and Mac, this novel combines a raunchy romance with a great plot. I loved the build up of tension, waiting for all the little lies to blow up into a drama. I found Sadie to be likable and relatable. Mac had more depth than the typical playboy billionaire and I liked him more than I had expected to. I often find “billionaire romance” novels over the top and unbelievable, but this one was much more realistic.

To get yours, order paperback via your local bookstore or find it now at number 79 in WHSmithTravel outlets (main rail stations, airports) or online via ChocLit. Plus read more here on Renee’s blog - and thank you!

Want to come to my book launch in January?

What’s even more exciting is that my publisher wants to do a proper book launch and we are just working out where. Most likely is local to me in Dorking. But our lovely guest Lorna Ko who is a reporter on Chiswick Buzz a local online video magazine show covering events near QVC, wants to do an interview soon with me – she usually books a venue like a bookstore for such things and it looks like the Chiswick Bookshop family team are open to my having it there. Do go in and ask manager Emily for one of the signed copies. I also got some super wrapping paper that can be framed – it looks like old school bookshelves of eg 1930s girls books, or classics etc. Fab gifts too!

Free Christmassy EBooks from Choc Lit

Look out for ‪Christmas treats coming later this month. If you’re not signed up for Choc Lit’s flash fiction treats yet, simply email ‘TREAT’ to  info@choc-lit.co.uk  to subscribe and you will automatically get them!

Watch – Tom Hanks’ Bridge of Spies Tom Hanks latest outing, set at the height of the cold war in the early 60s, is another amazing achievement – a superb period drama based on a true story. If you love sprightliness, and human interest stories, to go and see it. It’s highly recommended. I gave it 8.75 out of 10, quite high for me. And the extras at the end  over the credits told you what happened afterwards with the real characters, made it all the more fascinating.

BLOOPER OMG POOR SIMON BROWN! Funny though… ‘cooking with gas. or not.’
