Final round up and some unseen footage from China trip

Getting ready for the big walk – sponsorship info below

Film Fest – Five Movies in one Flight

Back to earth with a bump this week – and where’s the nice weather gone?! My goodness I nearly took off this week in the gale force winds! What I didn’t do is take off for the helicopter lesson tho – postponed due to rain on Sunday morning. So I had a nice Toby breakfast with my son instead.

He’s so lovely, bless him! Was nice to catch up with both my kids at the weekend, and the pogs of course! They were so excited to see me, I felt very appreciated! And thanks to all of you who put kind messages on my Facebook and Twitter etc saying you were glad I’m back. Not as glad as I am, believe me! Unless you’re a pog…

China – Final Assessment
Backstage Mark aka our lovely cameraman caught up with me this week in our presenter lounge for a summary of what was most memorable about being in China – here’s what I said…

So it was one of the best of times, and one of the toughest of times, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Here are a couple of final pics and clips which you may not have seen yet.

At the bottom of the toboggan ride at the Great Wall of China we got the chance to play act with dressed up warriors!

One of the best things was working with people almost as crazy as me – this is the Vice President finding a new faster way to get around the corridors at CNR mall!

And the best day trip – the Great Wall – here’s an insight as to what it’s like at the top of the world in Beijing.

Do take a look at the last three weeks’ blogs for full daily updates, pics and videos from one of the best TiFFT’s* I’ve ever had!

FABULOUS IN-FLIGHT FILM FEST

Oh what a reward I gave myself on the long flight home! Five films – yes five! Only one was a stinker (truly – Eddie Redmayne what have you done!) and that was ‘Jupiter Ascending’ – I won’t even put the trailer it was so rubbish. Sci-Fi with bad models and awful acting from one of the leads. Mila Kunis was fine but the rest… Anyway here’s the best of the crop –

‘Still Alice’ an award winner and rightfully so for Julianne Moore’s portrayal of a woman diagnosed with a serious illness – uplifting despite its subject matter. If you enjoyed ‘The C Word’ this week on telly, try this sensitive film. Great performances all round – 8.75 out of ten

Birdman – an unusual black comedy about a has been actor making a comeback – is it a bird, is it a plane? Michael Keaton shines and Emma Stone is her usual stellar self. A truly different film. 8.5 out of ten.

SPONSOR US? MOONWALK APPROACHING!

Jackie, Kathy and Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun and I would be very grateful if you would like to sponsor us for our big marathon walk through the night on Saturday week – do click here and go to this site and log on and donate for a very worthy cause. We’ll be walking in our decorated bras through the night on 16th! OK so my training hasn’t gone according to … ahem… plan. But considering the hours long day trips we did when in China, walking for hours, it’s gotta help! Going to step it up a bit now tho, in the next ten days. Jackie’s putting us all to shame tho with her training – she did 20 miles yesterday!

SNIPPETS

Walk Back in Time Tour – Just in case I haven’t had enough of walking this summer, after the charity walk-athon Moonwalk, I’ve booked some tickets to go on this – it looks fab tho – I love a bit of history! Half price tickets for a history of London walking tour – more info here.

Back to You update – as per usual, we had a webchat on our Facebook group on Monday 8-9pm, and this week as well as more tips from Bodyblade Bruce, it was my turn in the hot seat! Do come join the group! (links below). Read the web chats plus find out about some fascinating diet tips here.

TTFLS – Here’s another lovely comment from someone who’s been using our methods – incl Bodyblade – to get more healthy! The hardback of my Till the Fat Lady Slims book is here on QVC too.

Read it Write it Sell it – incl Book of the Week. My writing blog this week has a couple of tips if you want to write your own novels, for good courses and workshops. Plus book of the week is The Lie by CL Turner, see below. And don’t forget to check out Julia’s blog for her update on her first self-published novel will be done – it’s a fab cover, done by the same designer who does mine. I’ve been happily helping her get it uploaded online and she’s done well – out to preorder soon! But first to a book which is still riding high in the UK kindle charts – currently only 99p.

The Lie – Jane has tried to put the past behind her but someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Jane and everything she loves . . .

Heat magazine called it ‘an excellent psychological thriller’, Woman magazine called it ‘Spine-chilling’ and The Sun said, ‘it’ll make your heart beat faster’.

The Lie shot into the Sunday Times Bestseller chart within a week of being published. It’s the novel everyone’s staying up late to read because they can’t put it down…

City Mugs yes as much as there were wall to wall Chinese food outlets, there was also a Starbucks or a Costa in every Mall – sometimes both! So it was easy to expand my collection of city mugs – Beijing in yellow and China in red, what else!

Sneaky Peek – Antthony is back around 29th/30th! Yay! I have a little surprise for him from China – he’s always buying little gifts for others so quid pro quo! Also join me Tuesday 11pm for a one-show-only-type-bargain in the kitchen! Wink wink!

Twitter Tickler Since Star Wars 7 is back in the news again this week with a 73 year old Harrison Ford aka Han Solo (be still my beating heart – yes, even at 73!) this was doing the rounds – very funny wordplay! Haha!

Facebook Funny Remember this 70s pop song? Being a 70s bird (ok 60s but whose counting… oh, I am, it’s my birthday Sunday ! lol) I thought I’d pop this on here for a chuckle!

QVC Highlights this Weekend there are some whoppers for you – Today’s Special Value on Saturday is the brilliant Bose Wave Music System which also includes the Bose SoundLink colour, then Sunday is the new Skechers Mary Jane style.

Otherwise here’s a classic which was sent to me again this week by one of my facebook ladies who’d only just encountered it. Specially for Jewellery Month – French and Saunders imitating art! Sooo funny!

Next week – it’s my birthday! We’re off for a spa treat to Champneys!
