What a lovely week! It’s been so good to be outside in the garden. I’ve planted a couple of bamboo wigwams with sweet peas, potted on my Fir Tree Nursery pelargoniums, spread lots of home-made compost on the borders, and spent a fair amount of time sitting back, having a cuppa and enjoying the garden!

Until now, spring seems to have been about two weeks behind in the garden. But it’s catching up fast. My magnolia burst into bloom at the weekend and has looked amazing, but the warm spell means that it’s going over very quickly, much faster than it would if the weather had been cooler. The same is likely to happen to the tulips if it stays this warm.

I’ve been busy indoors as well, re-launching my website, www.richardjacksonsgarden.co.uk to include lots of extra advice and help from me and lots of my gardening friends. It’s also the place to visit if you want any extra information on my QVC products. Talking of products, I was delighted to hear from Geoff Gardener – one of the group of award winning growers using Flower Power – that he has just one ‘Best in Show’ for his Flower Power fed daffodils exhibited at the York Show (which is run by the Ancient Society of York Florists, the oldest gardening society in the world, it dates from 1763).

In fact, now’s a great time to be feeding daffodils with Flower Power, just as they’re building up their bulbs from next year’s flowers. And, of course, it’s a great time to buy Flower Power as it’s the Gardening Pick of the Month for April, with free P&P!

If you’re starting to plan you summer containers, don’t miss this week’s issue of Garden News. There’s lots of planting tips as well as some inspirational ideas for amazing looking displays. There’s also a competition, in conjunction with Flower Power and QVC, to find this summer’s best containers, with up to £500 to be won for the very best!

Happy gardening,

Richard
