Another lovely first last night. I attended her grace the Duchess of Westminster charity fundraiser at Eaton Hall near Chester, an estate so large it was like driving through Richmond Park almost! They hold several charity events every week in their fab surroundings and hospitality suites.

Medical detection dogs has a particular place in Her Grace’s heart since she is personally helping to raise the funds to cover the cost of Chris Gardner’s MDD dog Jade and he was there giving an emotional speech about how his life has changed totally from being in hospital most of the week with a full-time carer, to regaining his independence courtesy of his clever canine who detects when his blood sugar changes to quickly because he can’t.

The regular monitoring has made his health improves overall. In fact she did an alert as they call it whilst he was giving his speech and his wife took over while he went to check his blood sugar as otherwise Jade would not have stopped jumping at him. There were more than 100 wonderful potential contributors and I met several people who are putting on events around the country that we may be able to tap into, I will keep you informed.

The canapés were out of this world, the accommodation we were offered in the guest suite in a converted stable block was about three times bigger than my house, and all beautifully done, a wonderful experience. Her grace the Duchess of Westminster is a very generous kind lady who clearly wants to give back on a regular basis and it was a pleasure to be part of it. For more news about ending day and if you would like to donate, please go to my charity page on my website.

QVC in the Sunday Exspress Just in case you missed it, here’s the super double page spread featuring Ali Young from the Sunday Express mag – interesting take on your top shopping channel from someone new to it all.

SNIPPETS

Catch up with Lee  I had a nice evening over with my ‘telly hubby’ chewing the fat (no not literally!) and sorting some Hi-Tech issues. Although at the end of one problem, even Lee admitted he’d never seen this issue before! However, at the end of it, I had a much better understanding of a MAC vs a PC. He’s also going to do some ‘beginner’s guides’ – which is great news – probably better than my basic guide to Twitter here. Looking forward to it boss man! More from Lee here.

Time to Write? YES! And that’s why I’m off radar for a bit on some social media, as I’m right in the middle of a really exciting bit of my latest book. Must get it done! Clearing the decks a little, after a year of intensive social media, which had some superb results and after my recap meeting about it all, I can do things slightly differently now – time to write my next book. It’s the follow-up to ‘Take a Chance on Me’ which was originally called ‘Hawaiian Retreat’. But with a different hero than the original, and a super twist… Any author knows that making time is the key thing to getting a book written and I’m no exception. Hope I can stick to it!

Book of the Week it’s a novella this week – and one from the fabulous Lee Child, taking us back into the annals of history from Jack Reacher’s past… more here.

View from my Coffee Cup another novel, another tea rooms. What is it about tea rooms? I’m so into them, specially vintage ones. Do you think I was born 65? A grandma? Considering how most of my life I’ve shied away from things like getting drunk, clubbing, being much other than responsible, maybe it would explain a lot! lol. What do you think? Are you the same or did you have a tearaway stage!

Ahh Tony Blackburn. Saw this online this week and it made me smile. In around 1971/ 1972 I was wearing yellow hot pants, aged 10, on a holiday in Warners, Hayling Island. What were you doing?

Throw back Friday OK so here’s a pic my niece posted this week, of me in a photo shoot for SSVC TV in Chalfont, around 1992. I was blonde for most of my twenties. Maybe I should go back to it again one day, what do you think?

Alison’s 50th – Happy belated 50th to Alison flint, one of our clan, and god help Wimbledon when we all descended on it this week to celebrate!

Wellbeing Update What’s your top tip for keeping healthy? Which one thing do you do which really helps? Mine would be drink hottish water with a splash of fresh lemon juice. It’s really helped change my palate back from the Christmas sweet tooth! What’s yours? Leave me a comment below.

For those who are about to follow my one month Freedom Eating Programme (free guidelines on my event page, begins after Easter) here’s this week’s link to the latest wellbeing ‘Back to You’ blog click here. Talks about dealing with the threat of bingeing, which is covered in my book ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ (more about book here) and other topics that’ll help you prepare to get in better shape, if you’re so inclined. Plus Q&A with Flora Mare and Bruce! Hope you can join me – read the blog and see what you think about it.

PS I’m really excited about going to a health talk on April 5th in Bristol, by Food and Behaviour Research – info here if you want to come too! I also might be meeting up to interview the famous Dr Steve ‘Chimp Paradox’ Peters in April. Oh gosh I’m such a geek sometimes…! I really should get out more. Oh I forgot – I may have some news on that topic – maybe I’ll let you know about it next week. Maybe! Lol

By the way little Roland the dog had a set back this week – sadly his left leg has a problem with one of the pins and it looks like it’ll have to be replaced as it was causing swelling. Touch and go with the little lad, but Lorri V is determined to keep helping him. That and come with me for a walk to my nearby woods with the dogs – I recorded a six-minute walk, so if you want you can march along at home and feel like you’re out in the sunshine! Click here for my website newsletter with all that and more.

Facebook Funny heheheee

Blooper – Amy Anzel shared this video this week – funnee!

Watch –  had a busy week writing mainly, so didn’t go to the cinema again despite having a hit list! So here’s another fab YouTube talk to listen to – sent to me from my lovely daughter Lauren.

And just in case I get the chance to see it, here’s George Clooney’s trailer for Hail Caesar – it’s probably not as good as the promise of this clip, but dang the trailer’s good! Have you seen it? Let me know.

Next week meeting the brand new girl puppy at Medical Detection Dogs – and maybe – just maybe – I’ll tell you what I’m getting up to on Monday night – something I haven’t done for nearly three years… see if you can guess… x

PS my novels and non-fiction on my bookshelf! Most still in paperback online – very proud!

Meanwhile, ref the latest one – more praise for Till the Fat Lady Slims book 3.0 -thank you all so much! More info here.

I was sceptical about this book when I first heard about it. I was thinking it would a rehash of the other book, 2.0. With the addition of other people’s opinions. Which, I thought you could get on her Facebook page. This is NOT the case. I found it had lots more info about the ‘type’ of freedom eater you are and how your gut can influence things. I also like the links to videos and articles on the web. It helps you do your own research into your own body needs. Let’s face it we are all different. You do need to have read the TTFLS 2.0 before you read this I think. But, if you ‘get’ the concept of the books. This is another great one from Debbie Flint
