I love looking at pretty wedding things, a fact that often surprises people. You see, I didn't have a wedding. My husband and I decided to get married and 10 days later ran off to City Hall without telling anyone. Surprise! If we'd had a wedding, we would have had to DIY a lot of things. When I looked at all the pretty wedding things I always wonder whether it is possible to DIY them. Here are some of this year's trends that you can do yourself.

Baby's Breath

Yes, baby's breath is back. I was surprised when I read about it and had horrible flashbacks to stylists sticking it in my hair. I thought I really disliked baby's breath until I saw it used as the only flower in a bouquet or floral arrangement. For those of your looking to DIY your own floral arrangements, A Storied Style has a short tutorial making baby's breath floral arrangements. Head over to Faith. Home. Love. to find out how to make your own baby's breath bouquets.

Pretty in Mint and Coral

Shades of mint and coral appear in Pantone's Spring 2014 fashion color report, making them a trendy option for spring weddings. Linda, who blogs at Mason Jar Crafts Love, created the mason jar vases above. So pretty! She received so many questions about how she creates the painted mason jars for her Etsy shop that she wrote her own painted mason jar tutorial. BlogHer network member Andi (Estella's Revenge) recently got married and used this colour scheme in her wedding. Lovely!

When I was kid I used to make floral crowns out of daisies. They have come a long way since I was a kid! Floral wedding crowns are just plain pretty and easy to DIY. Nuance and Bubbles shares how to make a floral crown with grocery store flowers. Not everyone has time in their schedule to make fresh flower crowns on their wedding day so The Pickled Herring has you covered with a tutorial on how to make a midsommar floral crown out of silk flowers.

Succulents

I never would have thought of using succulents in floral arrangements and I was skeptical when I heard about this trend. That skepticism quickly went away when I saw pictures. I love them. A lot. She Knows and Apartment Therapy both have good tutorials on how to make succulent bridal bouquets. Creative Jewish Mom has tips for making your own succulent centerpieces. Needles and Leaves even has a tutorial on how to make a succulent crown.

Peonies

I love peonies. They are big and bold and I like that both in flowers and in weddings. Peonies are also a fabulous flower to make out of crepe paper. Craftberry Bush's crepe peony tutorial is straightforward and has good photos. And of course, Martha Stewart has a tutorial and provides templates for how to make crepe flowers. If you've ever made a Martha craft you know they can occasionally be a bit frustrating. Mrs. Unicycle used Martha's flower tutorial and shares her tips. You can always use fresh flowers, of course, and Cottage Magpie made a lovely mason jar peony bouquet with flowers from her garden.
