ZALIA 2015 Festive Collection

The fashion show ensued with the ZALIA 2015 collection, which was inspired by German artist, Adolph Menzel’s 19th century painting, The Supper at the Ball.

This elegant-chic collection, designed entirely in-house by ZALORA, featured intricate embellishments, sophisticated embroideries, hand beading and delicate crochet placement lace. It is the perfect combination of the glamour of the bygone era with contemporary adaptations.

To flatter the timeless and elegant modern feminine silhouette, classic fabrics like soft chiffon and satin were used in various colours were used. These colours include metallic gold, midnight blue, and pastel shades as well as classic black and natural ivory.

Bella Ammara and Sugarscarf for ZALORA

Bella Ammara and Sugarscarf respectively created exclusive garment and scarf designs for ZALORA which were presented together on the runway.

The exquisite designs of Bella Ammara for ZALORA are a modern adaptation of the classic humility of the 60’s and 70’s. With the wide use of Como crepe and tweed fabrics in rich hues, every item exudes simplicity, stylishness, and comfort.

Sugarscarf featured three special ranges of scarves that complement the Bella Ammara for ZALORA garments. The Madison Beads collection, Madison Lace collection, and Madison 3D Flower collection tied in seamlessly with the latter’s stylishly modest look on the runway.

The inspiration behind these scarves came from the desire to accentuate the feminine values of the modern Muslim woman – the Madison Beads collection symbolises elegance, Madison Lace collection symbolises courage, and lastly, Madison 3D Flower collection embodying beauty.

Syomir Izwa for ZALORA Eid 2015

Closing the show was the gorgeous pieces from the Syomir Izwa for ZALORA Eid 2015 collection.

The story behind his inspiration for his collection is an interesting one. It begins with Syomir’s great appreciation towards ‘Malaysiana’. Taking Penang as his muse, he drew more inspiration from Nyonya Peranakan’ and ‘Anak Mami’ communities, which helped to shape the style of Penang fashion and heritage. With that, Syomir created a collection with clothing that are as lively and bold as the island state itself.

The collection features silhouette-defining pastels and black lines, which were inspired by colonial images. The ‘Mami’ culture was embodied by the use of rich colours, such as electric blue, yellow, green, pink, and green, in certain garments. This reflected the vibrancy and energy of the Indian Muslim community. To pay tribute to the Nyonya group, some of the item’s colours were inspired by Chinese porcelain and antique paintings.

The star-studded fashion show, organised in collaboration with CIMB bank, is ZALORA’s second installment of their Lebaran collection. A spectacular show was undoubtedly well-received and took a further step towards fostering the growth and decvelopment of the local Muslimah fashion industry in Malaysia.
