It was a cold start this morning across central Indiana. Temperatures in Indianapolis tumbled to 17 degrees, preserving the standing record of 16 degrees, set back in 1934.



There was record breaking cold in Lafayette though, with temperatures falling to 15 degrees, breaking the old record of 16 set in 1982.



It will be a clear and quiet night with temperatures falling into the low 20s. The winds will begin to turn out of the south overnight, as high pressure pushes off to the east.



A cold front will arrive Sunday afternoon, allowing scattered showers to develop. A tenth to two tenths of an inch of rain is possible.

It will be a breezy day with winds out of the south-southwest, sustained from 15 to 25 mph. Gusts of 30 mph will be possible. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees.

Monday will be mild with temperatures climbing back to near normal, in the mid 50s. It will be sunny and dry.

The warming trend will continue through most of the work week. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 60s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

More unsettled weather arrives too, bringing chances of rain late Wednesday night through Friday.
