The National Weather Service extended the Heat Advisory through Sunday evening, due to the high temperatures and high humidity that will be in play again Sunday.
Temperatures have climbed into the upper 80s and low 90s today, allowing heat indices to soar into the upper 90s and triple digits. The heat index is a gauge of how it feels outside, similar to the wind chill value.
It will stay warm and muggy this evening with heat indices remaining in the low 90s through 10pm. Temperatures will only fall into the mid 70s.
Sunday will be another scorcher with highs back in the low 90s and heat indices in the triple digits. Dewpoints will be in the mid 70s Sunday afternoon, helping create the “air you can wear”.
Make sure to drink plenty of water Sunday, avoid strenuous outdoor activities and wear light, loose fitting clothing. There is also a chance of a few thunderstorms late Sunday afternoon, which would help cool things off for a bit.
A break from the heat will return by Tuesday.
