Rangers and construction crews are working hard to finish camp projects before the snow comes, and they’re making great progress. Take a look at some of the things you’ll see at your favorite council camp in the coming months:
Marion D. Hanks Scout Camp at Quail Creek
The recently completed stake activity center at the Marion D. Hanks Scout Camp at Quail Creek has already seen lots of use with Wood Badge courses and the upcoming Little Philmont training. Soon, visitors to the camp will be greeted by a brand new gate with the name of the camp. Take a look at the gate’s progress so far.
Beaver High Adventure Base
Thanks to a generous donation from the National Rifle Association, the rifle range expansion project at Beaver is complete! The new range has doubled the capacity of our rifle range area and will allow more Scouts to participate next summer than ever before.

Beaver also has a brand new water tank surrounded by concrete retaining walls to ensure Scouts and other participants have plenty of water to stay hydrated during all of their adventures. Rangers have also poured the retaining walls for the new water tank at Tife Scout Camp at Mountain Dell Scout Ranch, and the water tank will be in place and ready to go in time for next year’s camping season.
Thunder Ridge Scout Camp
The George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Nature Center at Thunder Ridge will be complete by the end of this week. This nature center is the latest in a series of nature centers made possible by the Eccles Foundation at various council camps. The classrooms and pavilions will be used to teach youth about the natural world while helping them understand how they can be conservationists and protect the environment.
