A well-fitting pair of dark wash jeans is the first essential to building a stylish wardrobe. Not only does a pair of jeans go with any top you can imagine, but the dark wash gives an added versatility. Darker washes, unlike lighter ones, can be dressed down with a t-shirt or dressed up with a nice top and a pair of heels. A skinny or straight leg are my personal favorites.
A striped t-shirt is the second essential. It might seem plain and simple, but like the dark wash jeans, it can be dressed up or dressed down with the right accessories. It’s also a great addition to any fashionista’s wardrobe because the striped tee can be layered with your favorite sweaters and jackets during the colder months.
The number three essential is an anorak jacket. The olive green color goes with just about any color you have in your closet and like the other two essentials, it can be worn with any outfit. From a spring dress to a warm winter sweater, it looks great over everything. An added bonus: it can keep you warm from spring to winter, so no need to buy another coat.
Rounding out your style essentials is a little black dress. This one isn’t as versatile as the other three simply because it is for more formal occasions, but what’s great about an LBD is that it can be worn to basically any formal occasion. Wear it to a party or wear it to a wedding, either way, with the perfect LBD, you’ll never have to worry about having something to wear to your next formal event.
So don’t worry about keeping up with every single one of the latest trends. Keep these four essentials in your closet and you’ll have all the basics you need to create a stylish wardrobe.
