As a self-proclaimed fashionista, I’m always looking for new places for fashion inspiration, tips and tricks. I tear apart fashion magazines like Vogue and InStyle from the very first page until the very last. I check my favorite stores’ websites an unhealthy amount to see when they get new items. I religiously watch shows like “E! News” and “Fashion Police” to keep up with what the stars are wearing on the red carpet and in their day-to-day lives.

When there is a fashion week somewhere, I stalk the Internet until they post pictures from the runway shows. All of these, though, leave something to be desired. All of them show stars, celebrities and models, which can give off the idea that fashion is this unattainable thing that isn’t for average people.

So recently, I have turned to fashion blogs. What’s great about getting inspiration from fashion blogs rather than television and magazines is that they are a lot more raw and real. I always see the stars on the red carpet and the models on the runway wearing gorgeous clothing, but it is all just so unattainable.

Fashion blogs, on the other hand, show somewhat average people wearing clothing that they have in their closet and posting it on their site, Instagram and Twitter, which is something you and I can do too. In other words, these are just average people that have enviable style and innovative ways to wear today’s trends. What’s more inspiring than that?

Here are a few fashion blogs that every fashionista should know about. You’ll feel inspired to keep up your fashionable ways after just a few minutes of browsing through their sites!

Gal Meets Glam

Gal Meets Glam is a fashion blog run by Julia Engel, a San Francisco based self-proclaimed beauty junkie. In this blog, Engel features all of her own outfits. Her look can be classified as girly and modern. Often times her clothing incorporates florals, animal print, paisley and the occasional Aztec print giving her look a slightly more bohemian vibe.

What I like about Gal Meets Glam is that it doesn’t solely focus on fashion and style in clothing, but also in other aspects of your life. The blog shows ways to incorporate fashion and style in things like your beauty routine and home décor.

Honey & Silk

Honey & Silk is run by Stephanie Liu, a UC Berkley grad who decided to never leave Orange County. Her blog is a must-have in your favorites because her story is so relatable for college students. Upon graduation, she didn’t know what she wanted to do and this blog is a result of that. Many, if not all, of us are facing uncertainty at the end of college and Liu and her blog show us the benefits from taking, in her words, “the unbeaten path.”

Liu’s story is enough to make you start following her blog, but in case you need more reason, her style is the perfect laidback look that you should take a look at for inspiration. Her posts are filled with unstructured, simple silhouettes, either in solid colors or paisley or floral prints. She’ll throw in a fun accessory like a bold necklace or hat to bring the outfits up a notch, but her style is simplistic and casual. Liu’s blog is filled with great inspiration for your everyday look on campus.

Vintage Virgin

Vintage Virgin is a fashion blog that is, admittedly, not my style, but one of my favorites nonetheless. Jessica Virgin is a Texas blogger who incorporates one-of-a-kind vintage pieces into her wardrobe for a look that is all her own and is difficult to describe as anything other than eclectic. I still like following her blog because despite not being my style, I look to her for inspiration anyways.

You can’t deny she has great style and it’s fascinating to me how each of her outfits look like they’re straight out of a different decade. She is also unabashedly 100 percent true to her personal style in every outfit she posts. Vintage Virgin is a great blog if you’re a vintage fashionista and if you’re not. This blog will inspire you, at the very least, to be confident in your own personal style.

So if you’re looking for inspiration aside from the usual magazines, websites and television shows, fashion blogs are the way to go. The self-created blogs that are blowing up the internet right now are one of the best places to find some added inspiration for your own style because of the real, average people that run them. While these three blogs are just brushing the surface of all of the fashion blogs that are out there right now, they are a great place to start. So get out there and start looking for one that really speaks to you!
