Electric Daisy Carnival

Tinker Field
There are few EDM events bigger than the annual traveling troupe of dancers, stages, and world class promoters: Electric Daisy Carnival. This year, Tinker Field will host some of the best DJ’s we’ve seen this year, including Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Tiesto, DJ Snake, Flux Pavilion, Bassnectar, Paul Van Dyke, and many more. EDC Orlando will be spread across three stages, and will include several colorful circus-style performers, art installations, and carnival rides. There are multiple themes spread across the Tinker Field Fairgrounds, creating a holistic atmosphere of good vibes, love, and unity through music. Electric Daisy Carnival could be your last chance to gather with fellow EDM lovers in a fully immersive setting this year, so grab your fanny packs, your most on fleek costumes, and head over to Tinker Field for what will be a truly magical time.

Chance the Rapper

It’s been a big year for Chicago-native Chance the Rapper. His free album “Surf”, created with fellow artists under the moniker “The Social Experiment”, received great praise from critics and was downloaded over 618,000 times in its first week. And now, after the exciting announcement that Chance and his lady are expecting a new addition to their family, it’s only fitting that this fall he will be embarking on the “Family Matters” tour. Chance – along with special guests D.R.A.M., Metro Boomin, Towkio, and Hiatus Kaiyote- will be making 26 stops in North America from October to November, which includes one night at Firestone Live. So far, Chance has been getting rave reviews. With his bombastic backing band, stage energy, and love for his fans, a night on the “Family Matters” Tour will be a night to remember.

Sister Hazel

America Gardens Theatre
This past year, the acoustic rock/folk band Sister Hazel celebrated twenty years of being a band, releasing the 20-track mega record 20 Stages. 20 Stages was conceived by the band’s bassist Jett Beres, who suggested that two songs from every tour stop be recorded for the record, chronicling Sister Hazel’s experience of their 20th Anniversary as a group. And not only has Sister Hazel managed to stay together, but they’ve managed to keep the original line-up of bandmembers, guys who now consider themselves married to each other. Sister Hazel will perform at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot this month.

Incorporating almost every instrument under the sun, Sufjan Steven’s albums range drastically in style. From electronic albums inspired by the Chinese zodiac to acoustic/alternative records conceptualized around the states of Michigan and Illinois, Stevens has shown us the deepest crevices and corners of his mind through song. This past year, Sufjan Stevens released an album inspired by his parents *cue the awwww* titled Carrie & Lowell, and it’s his most matured, evocative work yet. For an intimate indie/folk show, Sufjan Stevens is the man to see.

Eli Young Band, composed of four musicians who met each other at the University of North Texas, will be making an appearance this month at House of Blues Orlando. Recently, Eli Young Band collaborated with breakout pop star Andy Grammar to create a country rendition of his hit single “Honey I’m Good”. By teaming up with Grammar, Eli Young Band successfully proved that country music has the ability to widen its scope and accept pop music trends. Eli Young Band is one of the many country bands who have taken it upon themselves to stretch the genre, and by consistently evolving their sound, the band has yet to fall out of the public eye. This past Spring, Eli Young Band released Turn it On, their only EP this year, but with a tour in the works, we think the band is likely to drop a new album soon.

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is back to perform their annual “Wizards of Winter” show, where Christmas classics take on a classical, yet hard-rock feel. But not only is the “Wizards of Winter” show a completely surreal audio experience, it’s incorporated with sight as well, with synchronized visuals, light shows, and even pyrotechnics incorporated into the show’s production. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is known for blowing audiences away, which makes this concert a must-see for the season. Not to mention, the ‘Wizards of Winter” is a great event to attend with the whole family.
