In 3 weeks, we’ve received just over 6,500 applications, phone interviewed just over 650 students from 137 different institutions, and today we’re announcing our first 22 students… they are as inspiring as they are incredible. They’ll enjoy everything The Summit has to offer over 3 days and 4 nights, including some special curated moments with speakers and guests.

Netia McCray – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Netia is a rising Senior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) focused on fostering youth-driven innovation and entrepreneurship around the world through her social venture, Mbadika, which assists youth in transforming their ideas into marketable solutions and business ventures. She is currently focused on Mbadika’s current venture, the development of a product line of DIY (do-it-yourself) kits to assist aspiring young innovators and entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa learn product design and development. Netia has over 3 years of experience working with aspiring young innovators and entrepreneurs throughout Latin American and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her work has been recognized by the Lean Startup Conference as a speaker, the MIT Innovation Initiative, as well as the Clinton Global Initiative-University (CGIU).
Daniel Fine – University of Pennsylvania (Wharton Business School)
Daniel Fine is a Senior at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School. He’s the Founder + CEO of Team Brotherly Love (TBL) & Fine Companies, which include sunglass company Glass-U and Diabetes solution, Dosed. TBL has raised over $1.9 Million USD for research, while Glass-U is licensed globally and was the 2014 FIFA World Cup sunglass licensee. Amongst other national and global awards, Fine’s been named one of the World’s Top 5 Student Entrepreneurs. He was also a Junior Olympic and All-American Swimmer and Tri-Athlete.
Shannon Wu – Stanford University
Shannon is a student at Stanford University, studying management science and engineering. Intent on addressing the challenges of scalable customer acquisition, Shannon is currently focused on building an influencer marketing platform at early-stage startup, NeoReach. With a private equity background in tech strategy, she has consulted for brands such as Jawbone, Visa and Coach. She sits on the board of Stanford Marketing and is a representative on Stanford Board of Trustees.

Barrett J. Tenbarge – Vanderbilt University
Barrett is a Vanderbilt University law student, where he heads the Law & Business Society and pro bono Medical-Legal Partnership. He is passionate about law, business, and public policy, and wants to counsel innovative companies with their business, regulatory, and privacy issues, particularly in the healthcare and technology industries. Having helped build a transportation technology startup in Indianapolis, he hopes to connect untapped geographies like his home state of Indiana with the global tech community.
Kaeya Majmundar – Emory University
“You are not an entrepreneur” is what one Shark told 20-year-old inventor Kaeya Majmundar on the season finale of ABC’s television show, Shark Tank. Now, with four patent applications filed, Majmundar is poised to continue developing her products full time after graduating from Emory University in 2015. Majmundar set out to redesign the cardboard box after a chaotic moving experience in 2012, and has crafted many inventions since. Majmundar aspires to build a robust brand and to inspire other young women in business.
Josh Dean – New York University
Josh is an New York University (NYU) student and the co-founder of Live To Give HQ, a storytelling platform for people to raise money for charity. Josh recently interned for United States Senator Cory Booker on his digital team. He is interested using social media and digital organizing tools to disrupt the nonprofit and public sectors by connecting people to causes and movements and empowering them to drive change.

Victoria Nneji – Columbia University / Duke University
Victoria Chibuogu Nneji is a creative thinker and thoughtful creator, poised to use her technical skills to solve problems and develop products that are needed in public health, education, and the environment. With a background in applied mathematics as a Columbia trained engineer coupled with her experience in entrepreneurship and policy as a Duke masters student, she believes that there is value in being able to think about numbers in more useful ways. Ultimately, Victoria aspires for her career to be of service to communities.
Jakub Langr – Oxford University
Jakub Langr is an undergraduate at Oxford University, aiming to start as a Data Scientist next year. He has worked for small and large NGOs with international reach (Aspen Institute Prague, Forum 2000), international consultancies (TPA Horwath), Oxford University as an IT demonstrator, and a FTSE 100 company, where he did his Data Analytics Internship and subsequently was offered a position as an Associate Data Scientist for the summer of 2014.
Rachel Tsao – University of California, Berkeley
Rachel Tsao has a background in product management, growth hacking and data science. She previously used metrics and data to drive product decisions and corporate strategy at Salesforce, Evernote, Priceline, and J.P. Morgan. She is currently studying cognitive science and statistics at UC Berkeley. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and participating in hackathons. She previously won the NYC Moneyhack Hackathon and placed 3rd in the Spotify Music Education Hackathon.

Raphael Scheps – University of Cambridge
Raphael is completing a masters in theoretical Physics at Cambridge. He is also the vice-president at Cambridge University Entrepreneurs, the oldest student entrepreneurship society in Europe. He is a trustee and has sat on the governing body of King’s College, Cambridge. His interests include machine learning, IoT and AI and he has experience in various technical fields, but has a deep interest in design, photography and film. He loves building products that are as creative as they are technical. Raphael will be joining the EF Accelerator 2015 cohort.
Wendy Bradley – HEC Paris
Wendy Bradley, Texas native and professional writer, is a PhD candidate at HEC Paris in Strategy & Business Policy with a focus on innovation and intellectual property, specifically the dynamics of patent pools. She has written on topics like the business of law and internet technology, and spearheaded research for case studies on Qatari entrepreneurship. Wendy holds Masters degrees from SciencesPo Paris and the London School of Economics, where she earned a Distinction for her dissertation on mortgage policy during economic recessions. Wendy is an avid rock climber, speaks fluent French and intermediate Arabic.
Krish Suresh – Northwestern University
Krish is a senior at Northwestern University studying Biology and Computer Science. After graduation, he will be attending Northwestern Medical School to pursue a career at the intersection of medicine and technology. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, reading biographies, and watching reruns of Friends.

Sara Magnusson – Linköping University
Sara is a Swedish social entrepreneur, a leader and an engineering student with a passion for Science. She is the founder of Experimentfabriken (theExperimentFactory), a company that brings universities, students and scientists together to offer science and tech activities for youths. Sara is also teaching leadership to future leaders through His Majesty the King’s foundation Value-based Leadership. She studies Industrial Engineering and Management at Linköping University. Sara has been elected as one of Sweden’s Supertalents by the Swedish Business Magazine Veckans Affärer.
Orry Despo – Stanford University
Orion Despo is a sophomore at Stanford studying maths and computer science. He’s worked as a bioinformatician – where he was published in Nature and the Journal of Immunology, an iOS developer – where he created two finance apps and worked for a mobile content sharing start-up, and as a web developer for a B2B software startup in Panama called Ubiqua. He’s passionate about entrepreneurship and is currently working on a startup in the non-profit industry.
Anna Wang – Stanford University
Anna Wang, sophomore and Computer Science major at Stanford University, is captivated by leading-edge computer technology and its ability to create innovative products out of virtually nothing. Entrepreneurial at heart, she loves the product design process and working on projects that impact the greater community. A Southern Californian, Anna longboards, cooks, and goes adventuring in her spare time.
Andy Zhang – University of Waterloo
Andy is a software engineering student studying at the University of Waterloo. He is currently finishing his internship at Facebook where he is finding new ways to engage users’ with Facebook Pages. Passionate about building and innovation, he won his school’s Facebook Hackathon and the Canadian Robotics Competition. At school, he is also coordinating EngHack, a local hackathon as well as a Waterloo Engineering Competition. Before programming, he was a percussionist and pianist known for his performance of the Flight of the Bumblebee.
Rohit Singh – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
A graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and a former International Physics Olympiad Gold Medalist, Rohit was a co-founder and CTO of Avanti Fellows, an education platform for underprivileged children in India. Now a PhD student at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Rohit works on building futuristic programming languages and has interned at Yelp, Google and Microsoft. At MIT, Rohit co-founded Thymelabs to optimize the meeting scheduling problem and is also co-leading the MIT Global Startup Workshop helping student entrepreneurs from all over the world network and get inspired
Molly Long – Brown University
Molly is a senior at Brown University studying Computer Science. She’s really excited about the intersection of design + technology and has interned at Google, Microsoft, Pinterest, and Quora. Last year, she co-founded Hack@Brown which is the first annual hackathon at Brown University. In her free time, you’ll find her sketching, lettering, and thinking about all things related to food.

James Tull – Imperial College London (Grantham Institute for Climate Change)
James Tull is a PhD student in applied mathematics and statistics based in the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College London. He previously worked in finance at Deutsche Bank and earned a Masters degree from the University of Oxford. He is primarily interested in how big data can be applied to solving environmental challenges and through the Climate-KIC entrepreneurship programme has worked on commercial shipping and supply chain management.
Michelle Christina Hong – UC Berkeley (Haas School of Business)
As a young entrepreneur from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, Michelle understands the severity of the water and electricity crisis in developing countries. Thus, she is honoured to scale out the meaning of service as the Co-Founder of The Ki’N Crowd, a startup dedicated to providing clean water and energy to families in need around the world through proceeds received from each Ki’N Case sold. She is also exploring venture opportunities in the mobile application sector as her team consisting of 3 other Haas classmates are in the early developmental stages of a user generated nightlife application. Michelle is also a national level figure skater who has been a Professional Skating Instructor at Sharks Ice since the age of 16 and is currently the President of The Cal Figure Skating Team. Whether it be on the ice or through entrepreneurship, Michelle is truly passionate about inspiring the next generation to believe in themselves and their ability to change the world.
Manasi Vartak – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Manasi is a graduate student at MIT interested in large-scale data management and machine learning. She has worked on real-time data analysis tools, dynamic ad targeting, recommendation systems for clothing (while working on her startup Asorti) and algorithms to correlate diet with medical symptoms. She hopes one day to build a startup that leverages large-scale patient data to make better medical decisions.
Devon Bernard – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Devon Bernard, a junior studying Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from Epping New Hampshire, has been a self-taught hacker from the age of 13, ambitious entrepreneur, and lifelong learner. With experience working at Microsoft, Google, and founding numerous tech start-ups like Eco-Valve, Devon is always thinking of what problems to solve next and what products/services he can develop to change the world for the better.
