ABOUT BORIS GARTNER

Boris is a media executive currently serving as SVP and Chief Strategy Officer for Fusion, a Joint Venture between Univision Communications Inc. and the Disney/ABC Television Group. Fusion is a multi-platform media company that serves a young, diverse, and inclusive millennial generation across its television, digital, and social platforms. In this position, he leads company-wide corporate strategy, business development, monetization, and partnerships — focusing on growing the reach and impact of Fusion’s content offerings. He also leads a strategy team that drives new initiatives and growth opportunities across the company.

Strategic initiatives include the recent launch of Fearless, an innovative full-service social impact agency platform in partnership with advertising legend Alex Bogusky, aimed at helping socially-minded corporations, foundations and non-profits develop 360° campaigns that enables people to engage so that movement and progress become possible, while providing the added value of a built-in millennial audience through Fusion’s television, digital, and social platforms.

Previously he served on different positions at Univision Communications Inc., most recently as VP and GM of La Fabrica UCI, Univision’s in-house Digital Studio. This unit that he co-founded focuses on creating high-quality, digital-first bilingual content, develops multi-platform brands with alternative content offerings and innovative advertising formats and sponsorship opportunities. He launched Variety Latino, the premier multi-platform brand for general market entertainment news in Spanish, in partnership with Penske Media’s Variety; Panoramica, the award-winning Documentary series in partnership with Participant Media; and Alma Extrema, the first-ever adventure sports and lifestyle digital destination targeted to bilingual Latinos, powered by Red Bull Media House.

Prior to this role he served as Vice President of Strategy and New Initiatives for Univision News, where he managed operations and strategic initiatives focused on the growth and profitability of News’ content offerings across platforms. Under his leadership, Univision News created various new revenue streams, including a two-year $35 million campaign.

Boris was included in 2013’s Variety’s Hollywood’s New Leaders: TV Executives, and was part of Univision’s High Potential List in 2012.

Prior to joining Univision, he served as Director of Finance and Investments for Prodigy International, a real estate investment company with operations in the US, Mexico, Spain, and Colombia. His responsibilities included overseeing the company’s financial operations and structuring multiple investment opportunities. He is also co-founder of Human Dimensions International, an organizational development consulting company based in Colombia. His career began in Private Banking at Lloyds TSB Bank in Miami.

Boris holds an Advanced Management degree in Media and Entertainment from IESE Business School where he serves as vice-president for the 2012 class and an Advanced Project Management degree from Stanford University. He earned a Masters degree in International Business from Florida International University and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia.

He is part of the 2013 Georgetown Leadership Seminar, a member of the Milken Institute Associates, the Paley Center Media Council, and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He currently sits on the Advisory Committee of Our Miami, an initiative part of The Miami Foundation.
