With summer at our threshold, let me tell you a bit more about linen clothes. The attractive properties of the Linen fabric can be most easily appreciated when you wear them. And I am not at all exaggerating when I say that linen shirts or kurtis, linen tunics and dresses  are really exceptional in summer or when travelling to a place with hot and humid climate.

The foremost advantage of wearing linen clothes in this scorching weather is the coolness they bestow. Thanks to the linen fiber and weave specifics, it allows more airflow and its structure means it does not cling to your skin allowing better airflow over your body. Linen is a “firm” fabric and so less likely to cling to the skin; when it billows away, it gets dry quickly and becomes cool again.
Clothes made of linen retains high air permeability, which allows air to flow through the material easily and allows the body to breathe.

Another nice feeling one can experience when wearing linen dress is that the linen blouse or any other item of linen clothing keeps the body free of moisture. Linen fabric is highly permeable and an excellent conductor of heat. Your linen clothes feel cool to the touch. Linen cloth quickly removes perspiration from the skin. It is capable of absorbing moisture and quickly yielding it again. As a result of its molecular structure linen fabric can absorb as much as 1/5 of its weight before giving a feeling of dampness. In other words – your linen shirt will absorb lots of sweat and it is still it will never feel dank. Water is absorbed and vaporized quickly. As a result your linen dress acts like an outstanding cooling system.

Apart from being cool and high absorbent, linen has one more property – good heat conductivity. Linen quickly allows the heat to escape, it further increases cooling. It is claimed, that heat conductivity of this fabric is 5 times higher than woolen cloth and 18 times higher than silk cloth.

The way linen is woven it reflects heat a lot better than. This means linen Kurti, linen dress or shirt has good “shielding” properties and makes the wearer of linen clothing feel cooler. I can certainly tell that those who are dressed in linen clothes feel up to 3°-4°C cooler as compared to people wearing silk or cotton. I have also noticed that those wearing linen clothing perspire 1.5 times less than those dressed in cotton clothing.

All the above properties allow linen to serve well in hot and humid climates very well and significantly lessen the effects of the heat and humidity.

This summer explore the world of linen and feel comfortable, confident and pretty. No need to hide from the sun anymore.
