With summer at our threshold, let me tell you a bit more about linen clothes. The attractive properties of the Linen fabric can be most easily appreciated when you wear them. Apart from being cool and high absorbent, linen has one more property – good heat conductivity. Linen quickly allows the heat to escape, it further increases cooling. It is claimed, that heat conductivity of this fabric is 5 times higher than woolen cloth and 18 times higher than silk cloth.
The way linen is woven it reflects heat a lot better than. This means linen Kurti, linen dress or shirt has good “shielding” properties and makes the wearer of linen clothing feel cooler. I can certainly tell that those who are dressed in linen clothes feel up to 3°-4°C cooler as compared to people wearing silk or cotton. I have also noticed that those wearing linen clothing perspire 1.5 times less than those dressed in cotton clothing.
All the above properties allow linen to serve well in hot and humid climates very well and significantly lessen the effects of the heat and humidity.
