I’m truly excited to introduce you to Robin Wilson, an eco-healthy interior designer and lifestyle expert (www.robinwilsonhome.com) based in Manhattan. With an incredible portfolio of design work on projects including the White House Fellows office, President Clinton’s Harlem office and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s private residence , she has a “classic with a modern touch” design aesthetic.

What connected Robin Wilson to me is that she has allergies and asthma, and she has just launched her first ever hypoallergenic pillows for everyone who endures the wheezing and sneezing associated with these conditions. Her goal is to spread awareness and help others realize there are options out there to make their lives more comfortable. To order the hypoallergenic pillow, visit Bed Bath & Beyond by clicking here.

Robin Wilson also created a Fiber Bed, which I’m very excited to try. It can double the comfort of your own mattress, and it’s certified allergy-proof. It’s filled with a comfy and warm down alternative, made with a 300 thread count pure cotton barrier fabric, and has a 2″ double gusset side wall. I’m hoping that it works well for my son, Jacob, who’s been having trouble getting comfortable and falling asleep on his new pillowtop mattress. I hope that the Fiber Bed and new pillow from Robin Wilson will work together to help him get a better night’s sleep.  To have a look at the Fiber Beds, click here.

Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Canada will soon have Robin Wilson’s comforters in stores. In Canada, you can buy at Bed Bath & Beyond in Ontario (Richmond Hill, Oakville, Nepean, Belleville, College Park), in Alberta at West Edmonton Mall and at Grand Prairie, in Kamloops, British Columbia, and in Moncton, New Brunswick. The pillows are available online, and you can even ship items to your child’s dorm or residence room, say if they’re moving away from home to attend school.

In addition to launching a hypoallergenic pillow, Robin Wilson has launched a hypoallergenic textile line. I hear from readers frequently whose children have broken out in rashes or hives from contact with fabric or carpet. It’s amazing to me that textiles can be so toxic, and I see the distress that can cause.

It’s very exciting to me that Robin Wilson is in the know about these issues, and she’s created affordable products that we can trust. The secret is innovative weave technology designed to prevent allergen triggers from penetrating the bedding. This also allows for a quick drying process, which not only makes the products energy efficient, this adds a little known bonus: Dust mites die in a dry or moisture-less environment, so this product feature is very beneficial for anyone allergic to dust and the mites that feed on it.

As Ms. Wilson says: “I am inspired by a lifestyle focused on wellness. The Robin Wilson Home collection brings a beautifully designed aesthetic with hypoallergenic qualities. It will allow a consumer at any budget to afford an eco-healthy bedding option.”

Ms. Wilson is definitely a designer who is making a difference. In June 2011, she was named an Ambassador to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (www.aafa.org) with a platform to educate consumers about healthy indoor air quality and eco-healthy product options. As one of every four people in the United States (over 60 million Americans) live restricted lifestyles due to allergies and asthma, she feels it’s very important to help consumers reduce the amount of toxins in the home. I agree with Ms. Wilson wholeheartedly.
