The signing of the articulation agreement is an important step forward for all parties involved as it benefits OHLA Miami, the OHLA Miami students, and High Point University (HPU). As a result of the arrangement, upon completion of OHLA’s Advanced 1 level, students @ OHLA Miami will be allowed to apply for direct transfer to the prestigious High Point University (HPU), located in the beautiful Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina (NC).

High Point University (HPU): Facts & Numbers
At High Point University, every student receives an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people.
Founded in 1924, HPU is an 89-year-old liberal arts institution located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
HPU has 46 undergraduate majors, 46 undergraduate minors and 11 graduate-degree majors.
“America’s Best Colleges” 2014 Edition, published in the U.S. News & World Report, ranks HPU No. 1 among all regional colleges in the South and No. 1 among Up and Coming Schools in Regional Colleges in the South for the second consecutive year. HPU also ranked #1 for undergraduate teaching for the first time this year. Six years ago HPU was No. 15 in the rankings.
High Point University is the No. 4 college to get the best return on your investmentin the state of North Carolina by Affordable Colleges Online. HPU is ranked No. 8 out of 35 colleges that made the list, which ranks schools with students who earn more money over their lifetimes, on average, than graduates from other North Carolina institutions.
HPU has been selected, for the third time, in the list of “Colleges of Distinction.” It was selected due to distinction in four major categories: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.
HPU was named a 2013 Green College in “The Princeton Review.” A Green College is defined as one that is improving energy efficiency, conserving resources and enhancing environmental quality.
HPU is a member of NCAA Division I athletics and has 16 varsity sports — eight men’s and eight women’s. The newest varsity sports are women’s lacrosse, which began in 2011, and men’s lacrosse, which began in 2013.
The traditional undergraduate program has grown from 1,450 in 2005 to a record high of 4,300 in fall 2014. 3,685 of the traditional undergraduate program students will live on campus.
Freshman enrollment has gone from 370 in 2005 to over 1,470 in fall 2014.
HPU has 4,000 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students, for a total of 4,200 students.
HPU has 1,100 full-time employees. This is up 156% from 2005. HPU is the eighth largest employer in the city of High Point.
Forty-seven new buildings have been built or are under construction on the HPU campus since 2005.
High Point University-owned property has grown from 92 to 335 acres and from 675,000 square feet of building space to more than 3,000,000 million square feet of building space.
HPU received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to begin the first doctoral degree program in its history in educational leadership. The doctoral program welcomed its first cohort in fall 2012.
Parents of current HPU students have committed $16 million to finance the cost of the new Center for Student Success, scheduled for completion in 2015. The two-story, 40,000-square-foot, LEED-certified building will house facilities for the Office of Career and Internship Services, the Office of Study Abroad, the Center for Entrepreneurship, Service Learning and more. It will be a central hub of activity for students preparing for job interviews, seeking job opportunities and looking for ways to diversify their career skills. The structure will also include conference and meeting space for proposed executive education offerings slated for the near future. It will be located on Fifth Street behind the University Center complex.
New graduate programs in the School of Health Sciences are underway. Dr. Daniel Erb is dean of the school, which currently houses undergraduate programs in exercise science and athletic training. It will grow to include a master’s program in physician assistant studies and a doctoral program in physical therapy. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, positions in these fields are projected to grow up to 39 percent by 2020. Erb graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in physical therapy, and received a master’s degree and doctorate in anatomy from the Medical College of Virginia. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. At Duke, he served for 11 years as the director of graduate studies and associate professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Division in the Department of Community and Family Medicine.
HPU’s proposed School of Pharmacy will be the only pharmacy school in the Piedmont Triad Region and just the fourth in the state when its inaugural class is welcomed in 2016. Dr. Ron Ragan, dean for the proposed School of Pharmacy, comes to HPU from the University of Kansas where he developed new academic and assessment programs in its highly respected pharmacy school. He has more than 25 years of experience as a community and hospital pharmacist and educator and holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology.
Without a formal campaign, High Point University has raised more than $214 million in contributions from alumni, friends and parents since 2005.
