Check out this awesome F36 customized by ModBargains install shop Mod Auto. Owned by friends of ours with help from BMW specialist Mod Expert Sean, they’ve turned this F36 BMW 428i GranCoupe from boring to badass. It’s all the little details that add up to turn a kind of funky car – the 428i GranCoupe – into a lustworthy embodiment of “the Ultimate Driving Machine”. This car nails every bullet point on the list of what it takes to make a modified car truly stand out from the crowd, though we do have to say that lovely Merlot hued metallic paint is a great place to start, especially when you consider the vast majority of BMWs are one of five “colors”, Black, White, Gray or Silver – though for a while it did seem almost like F30s only came in Yas Marina Blue, there were so many.
As we mentioned in our guide to the Best Mods for the BMW F32 428i and 435i, When modifying any car, one of the best places to start, after a set of nice looking wheels. Sean set up this F36 with a set of KW Coilovers for BMW F36 428i.
Here’s a look at the stock suspension. While not in bad shape, it sits quite high, and that causes unsightly excessive wheelgap.
Lowered on a set of KW Suspension Coilovers, we’ve transformed the look of the car entirely with and M-Sport Style front Bumper for BMW 4-Series and matching M-Sport Rear Bumper for BMW 4-Series with a Carbon fiber Performance Style Front Splitter for F3x 4-Series M-Sport Bumpers and Carbon Fiber Performance Style Quad Diffuser, and the bland single exit exhaust has been replaced with a gorgeous REMUS USA Quad Exhaust system with black tips.
To fit the car with a Remus Quad Exhaust for BMW F3x 428i and accommodate its quad Black Chrome tips, we needed to replace the lower diffuser of the F32 M-Sport rear bumper with this handsome Carbon Fiber Performance Style Rear Diffuser for F3x BMW 4-Series, complete with dual outlets shaped perfectly for our quad exhaust setup.
Here’s one last look before installing the wheels and setting her back on the ground.

To give the car the performance style and aesthetic we wanted without breaking the bank, we set the car up with a set of Sportline Wheels for BMW in Gunmetal finish.
Sportline wheels are an amazing bang for the buck, as they’re manufactured using the Rotary Forging process (sometimes called Flow Form) that creates a wheel that’s lighter and stronger than wheels produced using the more common (and less expensive) gravity cast or low pressure cast methods. Starting at just $1280 per set of 19s as of press time, these offer fantastic performance for the money. Check out the weights above.

With everything installed, here’s how the package went together. The Sportline 8S flow form wheels are also on hand and in stock right here at ModBargains.

Let’s take a closer look at the front end. As we mentioned before, we installed an M-Sport Style Front Bumper for BMW 428i and 435i [F3x] paired with a Performance Style Carbon Fiber Splitter for BMW 4-Series M-Sport Bumpers to bring the look together – but that’s not all. Up front, a set of custom painted Gloss Black Dual Slat Kidney Grilles for BMW 428i and 435i – and the upgrade you probably can’t see making the front end so clean is a pair of Body-Color Painted Front Reflectors for BMW 4-Series.

The stance offered by the KW Coilovers really brings the best out of the 4-series coupe’s dynamic lines.

Here’s a better look at the side profile. A set of Carbon Fiber Mirror Covers for BMW 4-Series spices up the side profile a bit as well while also tying together the car’s other carbon fiber accents for a more cohesive look.

It all comes together to create one incredible looking car. While you can’t see it, under the hood, the car also sports an Injen Intake for BMW 428i to crank up the power.
(A 328i fitted with the same Injen intake, for reference)
Possibly the single most responsive intake out there for a N20 or N26 Turbo Four BMW Engine, the Injen Intake for F3X BMW 428i and 328i yields a ridiculous TWENTY TWO HORSEPOWER gain AT THE WHEELS, and a tidy 9ft/lb of torque as well. While with most intakes, sure, you’ll pick up 8, maybe 15 hp, but 22 is just beyond the pale. We also recommend pairing that with an Evolution Racewerks Chargepipe as well, as the plastic BMW Chargepipes have a nasty habit of exploding under boost as they get brittle with heat and age.

To finish off the package, we also debadged the 428i emblem and instead, replaced it with a stylized “F36”, and the piece d’resistance was the addition of a Carbon Fiber Performance Style Spoiler on the rear decklid.

From every angle, this is one damn good looking 4.
