We’re packed up and ready to hit the road for the final few islands on our Thaiventure tour. Up next on the list and to finish off the tail end part of our group backpacking tour, we’re exploring Koh Phangan, Koh Phi Phi, Railay and Ao Nang!

Koh Phangan

We headed to Koh Phangan for Muai Thai training, wipe out course, and the long anticipated full moon party! We hit the night markets for some ribs, kebabs, smoothies, and numerous other delicious foods. Bargained with store owners for our gear to wear to the full moon party; it’s LBW tradition to pick a bright coloured theme and roll with it, no matter what you end up looking like. There were a few early activities the day of full moon party, followed by a training session at the local gym; just in case anyone got out of hand. We gathered around the tables that night in the lobby for neon face and body paint (the theme of our outfits) while recruiting others in the lobby to do the same. The goal for the night: make it to sunrise! We hopped in a taxi to the beach party where buckets and cups were flowing all night long. DJ Bruce Danger carried us through the early morning hours with music blasting through the speakers as the sun came up on the horizon. We had all made it to sunrise!

Up Next, Koh Phi Phi

Bags packed and we’re on the ferry to our next destination, Koh Phi Phi! Upon arrival we dropped our bags at the hotel and set out on our own to explore the island. My roommate and I checked out local shops, stopped to shotgun a beer for our countries, and continued on to the beach. Low tide here was crazy! We could see boats on dry land with the water crashing a half mile out from where it normally is. We met up with a few others later that day for a viewpoint hike to the top of the island. It was no easy accomplishment, but we made it up over 100 vertical steps to the first view point. It was another half mile up the hill to the final view point where we could finally rest and take it the incredible sights of the island. Drenched in sweat we sat in awe looking at the amazing views that were in front of us. Snapped a few pics, engaged with others who embraced the intense hike up the island, and descended back down. We ended up watching a Muai Thai fight and even had two people on our tour take on each other! One guy had a black eye and the other was in a sling for the next two days. Epic. Our group celebrated the battle of two friends all night long. Next day was Blanco Boat party. Full of excitement and adventure we stopped at the major spots along Phi Phi, learning about the history of the island along the way. We were lucky enough to see from a distance where the movie “The Beach” was filmed. One of Leo Dicaprios first ever films! Snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and flipping off the boat occurred every time the engine cut off. We ended the day with a buffet back at Blanco Beach Bar to get us ready for round two of the Phi Phi Islands. To end the day, we swung by the Ibiza pool party with the whole LBW crew. A few of our group weren’t continuing on the tour so it was only right that we made sure they went out with a bang!

Next On The List, Railay Beach

In just a few short days, we managed to pack in a little bit of everything. From catching some rays and resting under the trees at princess beach to caving, hiking up to amazing viewpoints and down to the blue lagoon. To get to the lagoon is tough, but I can confirm it is absolutely worth the strenuous trek down there. So long as you are willing to help each other one by one up and down the natural rock walls, you will successfully make it to the blue lagoon. Each night we headed out for a group family dinner and set plans for the next days adventures. Our next adventure was long-tail boat fishing. We were spending the day on the water catching some fish! Unfortunately there was nothing worth keeping from our trip out to sea, so it was only right that I ordered the biggest fish on the menu for dinner that night. Fresh barracuda soaked in Thai spices, with fresh lime squeezed over top; the perfect ending to the day.

The Last Hoorah

Ending our tour with one last hoorah together in Ao Nang, Krabi we piled into a hotel room where we played games, shared stories, and drank ourselves silly. A night out on the town together was the perfect ending.

“It was the trip of a lifetime”

I have friendships I’ll cherish forever and i’ve made memories I’ll never forget. Thailand holds a special place in my heart and I will surely return one day!!
