Kingdom was proud to support the recent fundraising activities of one of their colleagues. David Lench, who is one of Kingdom’s retail security guards at the Cooperative stores in Westcliff on Sea, took part in a 7km sponsored walk on Sunday 18th September 2016 to raise money for Southend Hospital.

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust cares for more than 380,000 patients each year. It’s the local hospital for the Southend area and beyond, providing a wide range of acute services and specialising in cancer care.

Southend Hospital Charity raises funds to help make a difference for their patients. They make sure all the money donated benefits the specific ward or department that it was designated for, thus helping to provide state-of-the-art medical equipment, improve patient and staff amenities and fund vital research.

Each September the charity arranges a sponsored walk, called Walk for the Wards, along Southend seafront as part of their fundraising activities. The walkers can choose which ward or department they would like the money they raise to go towards.

Kingdom was pleased to sponsor David, who wore a curly blond wig to take part (fancy dress was optional!) and who chose the Margaret Broom maternity ward to receive the funds he raised. Other popular choices including the Neptune Children’s Ward and the Keyhole Cancer Appeal.
