Georgia Artists with DisAbilities Exhibit in the Ritz Theatre Gallery: October 1st to November 23rd, 2016

The Georgia Artists with DisAbilities Exhibit features 49 entries that include paintings, photographs, clay pottery, textiles and other mediums. The eight-city tour is kicking off in Brunswick this year and will travel the state though July 2017. Local artist Risa Rambo of St. Simons Island received an Honorable Mention and her “Smocked Dress” will be on display. “There is something very special about this exhibit,” says Heather. “The artwork is phenomenal – I think I have bought a piece of art every time we have had the exhibit at the Ritz. And this year, we are the first stop on the tour – more to choose from! I encourage everyone to come see the work for themselves.”

Stop by the Historic Ritz Theatre on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and celebrate with Golden Isles Arts & Humanities. Glynn Visual Arts Presents “100 Art Works Celebrating 100 Years”: October 10th to November 21st, 2016

Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) is proud to present a new art exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary/centennial of our National Parks Service. GVA has partnered with Fort Frederica and will be presenting over 100 works by local artists celebrating the beauty, history and uniqueness of our own National Park, Fort Frederica. The exhibition will include art work in various mediums including painting, pottery, photography and more. It runs from October 10th – November 21st at both GVA galleries, 106 Island Drive (main) and in the Welcome/Visitors Center at 529 Beachview Drive. All art work will be for sale through Glynn Visual Arts. The opening reception will take place at GVA’s main facility at 106 Island Drive on Thursday, October 13th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

ArtTrends Gallery Presents “Colors of Life”: October 10th to November 26th, 2016

Award winning artist, Carol Jo Smidt, is pleased to be presenting her artwork series “Colors of Life” at the ArtTrends Gallery. Carol’s paintings are representative of ordinary subjects through the use of extraordinary colors. She lives and creates her art in Woodbine, Georgia. She has been drawing since the age of 4 when her favorite subjects were horses. Carol also attended the St Paul School of Art, graduated from Iowa State University, and attended graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee: November 5th, 2016

Get ready for the annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Award. The day long event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid’s Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation. Community Day: November 5th, 2016

On Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., the Coastal Georgia Historical Society will host its 2nd annual Community Day event. We will open our lighthouse museum free of charge and offer tours, educational crafts and activities for children and families, historic lawn games, and presentations by interpreters from Fort King George and the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. The RSM Classic 2016: November 14th to 20th, 2016

The 2016 event is scheduled for November 14-20 at Sea Island Golf Club on the par 70 – 7,055 yard Seaside course that TOUR players ranked as their 15th favorite course to play. In just its first five years, The RSM Classic has raised more than 4.8 million dollars for children and family charities. New last year, the tournament will now also be played on the Plantation course in addition to Seaside, due to the larger field of golfers.

Meet the RSM Pros: November 15th, 2016

It’s coming up for a sixth straight year – St. Simons Island Rotary partners with the RSM Classic to host their Meet the RSM Pros event during tournament week – November 14th to 20th, 2016.

This year, the St. Simons Rotary Club sponsored Meet the RSM Pros event will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Retreat Clubhouse at Island Club on St. Simons Island, GA.

This popular event features an upscale cocktail party theme, with heavy hors d’oeuvres, a lively silent auction, and the highlight – up close and personal interviews with three of the RSM Classic’s top PGA pro golfers facilitated by guest interviewer, Rich Styles host of the ESPN Radio Golf Talk Show – The Back Nine Boys! New this year, a well-known golf agent will join the interview giving unique insight into the life and challenges of a PGA pro Golfer. Cannon’s Point History Tours: November 18th, 2016

The Coastal Georgia Historical Society, in conjunction with the St. Simons Land Trust, will offer in-depth history tours of Cannon’s Point Preserve on November 18 and December 2. Archaeology consultant Myrna Crook will provide detailed interpretation of this historic site, including the John Couper family and life at Cannon’s Point during the plantation period. Tour groups will meet at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center at 9:30 a.m. and will return at 12:30 p.m. The tour is $65 per person. The RSM Classic Concert Featuring Cole Swindell: November 19th, 2016

America’s fast-rising country star Cole Swindell will be taking the stage on Saturday, November 19th at McKinnon/St. Simons Island Airport! Singer/songwriter Matt Rogers will open for rising country superstar Cole Swindell.
