Dr. Joseph T. Newman is a Board Certified Podiatrist with more than 20 years of experience in central Iowa. He has a private practice, The Foot Center PLC, and also has hospital appointments at Clarke County Hospital and Van Diest Medical Center Specialty Clinic. He is “committed to the delivery of comprehensive medical and surgical care of the foot, providing patients with in depth education, and offering foot healthcare options that takes into consideration their total health and lifestyle.”

Dr. Newman attended the Des Moines University- Osteopathic Medical Center, graduating with a B.S.

in Basic Medical Sciences in 1987, followed by a D.P.M. in 1989. He also completed a Podiatric Orthopedics Residency there and has held several professional appointments since completion. Among his appointments include his role as a Podiatrist at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Throughout the course of his career he has specialized in primary foot health care, with an emphasis on high risk geriatric and diabetic foot care; wound care and prevention of the foot, as well as nail disorders and heel pain expertise; and foot biomechanics. He also provides care for many common foot disorders.

Dr. Newman has received the recognition he deserves; he is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, as well as the American Professional Wound Care Association. In 2009, he was voted among America’s Top Podiatrists by the Consumers Research Council of American. Most recently, Dr. Newman received various awards on HealthTap, where he is a Founding Medical Expert. Those awards include: Thought Leader, Most Influential, and Top Podiatrist for the state of Iowa. He is “known for” his excellent answers in heel injuries and disorders, diabetic foot, diabetic ulcers, and nail diseases.
