Le Sueur, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team earned a dual victory over Minnesota State University, Mankato Wednesday afternoon at the Le Sueur Country Club.  The Gusties turned in a winning team score of 284 compared to MSU, Mankato’s 294 to pick up their first dual win of the season.

Gustavus was led by senior Tyler McMorrow (St. Cloud, Minn.) who was the only player at the meet to finish under par.  McMorrow took home medalist honors after shooting a four-under-par 66 (35-31).  Tyler’s score on Wednesday matches his career low round of 66 shot on the second round of the Saint John’s Spring Invitational held at the Monticello Country Club in April of 2012.

Next in line within Gustavus’s top five was Andrew Oakes (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) and Matt Jensen (Sr., Edina, Minn.).  Both players shot back-to-back 36s on the front and back nines to finish in a tie for fourth with two-over-par 72s.  Gustie individuals not factored in the team score, Danny Cameron (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.), and Ben Elvestrom (Jr., Dellwood, Minn.), also finished fourth after turning in 72s.  Cameron went 39-33 and Elvestrom went 38-34.

Lee Bystrom (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) rounded out the Gustavus players who cracked the top 10 with a tenth place finish after firing a 74 (+4).

MSU, Mankato players Corey Muenzhuber and Casey Anderson rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively, behind McMorrow.  Muenzhuber shot an even 70 (37-33), and Anderson carded a one-over 71 (38-33).

The Gustavus men’s golf team will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Ham Lake, Minn. to take part in the Augsburg Invitational being held at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
