As the number of Mac games continues to grow, Mac gamers are finding their options on where to purchase the games are also increasing in number. But which ones are the best?

A new article over at Mac Gamer HQ breaks down the five best Mac gaming storefronts, and we agree with pretty much every store on the list. This includes the “big dogs” like Steam and the Mac App Store, as well as the increasingly popular GOG, Mac Game Store, and yours truly, GameAgent.

Mac Gamer HQ does a great job of detailing the strengths and weaknesses of each store and provides some insight into which store might be best for you, the reader, depending on your Mac gaming experience level.

Here’s a brief clip of what was written about GameAgent:

GameAgent started as Aspyr’s way of selling more copies of their games. But ever since, GameAgent has grown to become much more. They have their own compatibility checker (called Mac Match) integrated with their website (no need to use a stand alone app!) and what’s even better, they have awesome price tracking features.

GameAgent will monitor any game in your Wish List for price drops and then automatically notify you when a game goes on sale. This is extremely useful if you don’t feel like scouring the internet for sales every day until you find an interesting deal…

We’ve touched on most of the other stores ourselves in a previous series of Mac Gaming 101 posts, so check that out if you want some more background. Otherwise, we recommend heading over to Mac Gamer HQ for the full article so you can decide for yourself where you want to do most of your shopping.
