Discovering newly released well-designed fonts is a highlight of the day for type lovers like myself. This week, I already discovered five great new fonts including one called Scripta, a thin script font that is a tribute to the advertising days of the 1940′s and 1950′s. Another one I loved is MohoBis, an intricate stroke based font that might not have many universal uses, but has potential to make a high impact if used correctly. Conifer
“Conifer is a blocky geometric sans serif font that adheres to strict grid rules in order to define its corner angles. Its seemingly rigid form is tempered by the soft, rounded corners, and fine notched details present at acute angles in the glyphs. Available in a clean solid and a varied, textured rough. The result is a rugged, retro, typeface that is at home in fashion lookbooks and wood-carved park signage alike.”
Scripta
“Scripta is a family of typefaces that leads “Scripta Pro”, a commercial script writing similar to those used in ads advertising the decades 40 and 50, with fine lettering combinations of that time, Scripta Pro is ideal for composing headlines and subheads and this is supplied in two weights. This system is complemented by a Roman Sans “Scripta Gothic” an artdeco style typeface to harmonize with the style of that fonts. To add style to set fonts, created “Scripta Icons”, one dingbats font based on a series of graphs that help recreate the ornamental fantasies of a postwar generation, a society in transition between the classical world and ornament and promises of a cosmic and atomic world. For those wishing to use words made was created “Scripta Catchwords”. “Scripta Pro” is a script typeface inspired by the style works of the american typeface designer LH Copeland.”
MohoBis Pro
“MohoBis is a fancy font based on the multiplication of a source in many strokes way to create a texture called kinetic. This can mean substantial savings in printing ink. Parallel serves to create unusual headlines and prominent texts that provides an attractive modern typeface, ideal for packaging, editorial design and logos.”
Listz FY
“Listz FY is definitly the new sans serif family you were waiting for. With its friendly & sharpened shapes and its big contrasts from hairline to black, this contemporary font family will be perfect for any kind of uses, from print to screen, identities to magazines, small text to headlines. While the extremes are definitely intended to large sizes usage, the intermediate weights will be well suited to text setting at smaller sizes. Available in 6 weights and italics.”
Distillery Font Family
“The Distillery Set is a collection of 5 fonts: Display, Strong, Script, Caps, and Icons. The fonts’ influences are in lettering from different eras and styles. They reflect forms from the Arts & Crafts movement, the Roman majuscules, artistic printing, traditional tattoo lettering, sing painting and showcards from the early XX century and some typography trends started from 1970s America and being used today like chalkboard art or handmade labels in packaging. This is collection of fonts that strongly hints of the spontaneous ways of pencil on paper, the dynamic rebellion and simultaneous imperfection and elegance of DIY.”
