The annual National Book Award ceremony was held last Wednesday and rewarded the best works in fiction, non-fiction, poetry and young people’s literature. This year, James McBride received the Fiction prize for his novel The Good Lord Bird, George Packer received the Non-Fiction prize for his novel The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America, and Cynthia Kadohata received the Young People’s Literature prize for her novel The Thing About Luck.
