Shakespeare has said ‘What is in a name?’ But, there are many Bollywood stars who have proved that there is everything in a name. How would it sound calling your favourite stars something like this….Mohammad Aamir Hussain Khan or Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan or Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia or Ranveer Bhavnani? Isn’t it bit difficult to pronounce or connect them with them?

There are many tinsel town stars who has accepted new screen names only to appeal more to their fans. Let us have a look on some of the stars who has dropped their christened name and accepted another name.

Yousuf Khan: There are many who still doesn’t recognize this yesteryear superstar with this name. But as soon as you say Dilip Kumar, there won’t be anyone who doesn’t know this veteran actor of Bollywood.

Devdutt Pishorimal Anand – This stylish actor of yesteryear, changed accepted the shortened version of his name on big screen. Dev Anand changed his name from Devdutt Pishorimal Anand to make it more suitable for films industry to recognize.

Haribhai Shah– Who knew that Sanjeev Kumar was actually Haribhai Shah and has changed his name to Sanjeev after his entry into the Bollywood.

Inquilab Srivastava– ‘Srivastava’ was their last name; ‘Bachchan’ was the pen name of Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Harivansh Rai has named his son Inquilab first, but later changed to Amitabh who today is known as one of the most influential personality in the world.

Shivaji Rao Gaekwad– The king of south Indian movie Rajnikanth was brought to limelight by K. Balachander with the name Rajnikanth who was originally christened as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad.

Gouranga Chakraborty: Known as Dada Mithun Chakraborty was christened as Gouranga Chakraborty; but changed his name to Mithun after he started his career on big screen.

Preetam Singh Zinta: You will recognize the actress only because of the last name that this is the real name of cute dimpled actress Preity Zinta.

Vishal Devgan– He has accepted his baptized name in some of the flicks he acted, but before entering the tinsel town, Vishal Devgan accepted the name Ajay Devgan.

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan– We recognizes him with many names… Bhaijaan, Dabbang Khan, Sallu and Prem of Bollywood. But Salman Khan had to really shorten his name from Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan.

Mohammad Aamir Hussain Khan– Similar as Salman Khan, Aamir Khan too had to shorten his lengthy name Mohammad Aamir Hussain Khan to simply Aamir Khan.

Farhan Abraham– Born to Parsi mother and Kerala Christian father John Abraham dropped his name Farhan and accepted the second name of his father ‘John’ when he entered film industry.

Bhanurekha Ganesan– The sensuous actress Rekha moved to Bollywood movies from south Indian movies. The south beauty shortened her name to Rekha from Bhanurekha Ganesan.

Govind Arun Ahuja– Alike other actors and actresses, Govinda didn’t made much changes to his name. He just added the letter ‘A’ to his name Govind Arun Ahuja.

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia– The Khiladi Kumar has not only shortened his name alike Salman and Aamir but also went on with a change in name from Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia to Akshay Kumar.

Ranveer Bhavnani– Isn’t it bit difficult to connect Ranveer Singh with the last name Bhavnani with his character? Better we say him Ranveer Singh.

There are many others who have made similar changes in their name. Katrina Turquotte became Katrina Kaif, Ajay Singh Deol became Sunny Deol, Karenjit Kaur Vohra became Sunny Leone, Vijay Singh Deol became Bobby Deol, Ravi Kapoor turned Jitendra, Jatin Khanna to Rajesh Khanna and Jai Hemant Shroff to Tiger Shroff. Seems that this name changing game will still continue in tinsel town.
