Can’t keep an eye on social media all the time but want to be kept updated on the latest new product and service additions to our stores, warehouse and website? No problem! Once a week we highlight the best of ‘What’s New’ in our round-up.

With temperatures dropping and daylight dwindling, this week we are keen to highlight some exciting new products to keep you motivated (and toasty!) – whether indoors or outside, including the new FWE Turbo trainer, Specialized 686 X Tech Insulator Jacket and Oakley’s new Assault Jacket as well as our new Ride It Cross Sportive series!

FWE Turbo Trainer

During the autumn/winter months cycling can be hard on your body and bike. You may be up against it on the time front but how do you keep your fitness ahead of the spring awakening? Many take their training indoors with the use of a turbo trainer. There is a model to suit all wallets and riding desires. If you’re new to the turbo trainer market and want a good value alternative than take a look at the FWE option.

The FWE turbo trainer has a solid steel frame to give it stability and a firm base. To provide the 5 levels of resistance it uses a magnetic cylinder and the difficulty can be changed using the bar mounted lever. This turbo is all about simplicity, leaving you, the rider, to concentrate on getting the most out of the session. There is a clutch knob that allows the trainer to accommodate wheel sizes from 26” to 700c wheels. A quick release skewer is provided and if space is an issue the trainer can be folded neatly and compactly.

Check it out on the Evans Cycles webpage; in stock now RRP £109.99 (currently at 18% off!)

Specialized 686 X Tech Insulator Jacket

On or off the bike you need layers especially now the temperature is heading south towards single digit territory. That isn’t to say that riding can’t still be fun, it means you need different levels of protection. The 686 X Tech Insulator jacket provides this in abundance whether you’re riding, spectating or just outdoors. It has a wealth of features starting with the external woven fabric that has been treated with a DWR coating to make it water-resistant. On the inside it has 100g of Primaloft insulation, the choice of which ensures heat retention but allows the jacket to be folded easily and compactly. When it comes to riding there are stretch panels under the arms to help with movement and the sleeve cuffs are adjustable to keep out the draughts. It has a hood, a fold out spray skirt and reflective trim to aid visibility for others. There are pockets for your essentials and a SWAT pocket that allows you to reach your jersey or bib pockets should you need to. That’s a lot of tech in one garment!

Take a look at the men’s as well as women’s model on our site; in stock £150.00

Oakley Assault Softshell Jacket

The Assault Softshell Jacket from Oakley is part of the brand’s expansion into the leisurewear market. As one of the most successful makers of stylish and technical eyewear in the world, they are bringing this expertise and style to the casual wear arena. The jacket is lightweight but has a hood and is water repellent to make it an ideal partner when the elements strike. It is 100% Polyester but uses Hydrofree technology which allows this jacket to resist water absorption and retention. It is a slim fit with a full-length zip and pockets – a really stylish yet practical garment!

You can find the Assault Jacket on our website; RRP £174.99 (currently at 40% off!)

Ride It Sportive Cross Series

After introducing our Ride It Sportive CROSS series for the first time last season and following the great success it has seen, we have just launched a new series for this season – and it’s even bigger featuring 6 events! Venues will be expanded too with dates starting late November in Thetford, then continuing to Hampshire, Kent, Newbury, Gatwick and finishing off in the north of England in Leeds in early March.

Unlike the challenging cyclocross we know, leading around the same, obstacle-loaded race course, our Cross Sportive is designed for those riders who like to be out and clock some miles on the road, yet also enjoy to explore some routes off the beaten track. Most rides will feature a 50/50 split between road and off-road terrain and you will be able to chose between a long and a short route, so beginners are certainly welcome too!

For more details and to sign up check our website and browse a suitable bike here (although this is not to say you couldn’t tackle the ride on a mountain bike and even road/hybrid bike with suitable off-road tyres and disc brakes.)
