We all have different tastes, some people like to lie on a beach devouring books while others like to get on the road to sightsee or be active in the hills. 1. Surfing lesson – $25 for 2 hours class

7. Yoga class – from $10 per class

Known as a yoga haven, Bali proposes different types of yoga classes. Doing yoga in Bali is a must experience and you will definitely find a yoga course that is suitable to your liking. 8. Half Day Balinese Cooking class – from $21

Enjoy an Indonesian cooking class in Ubud only using local products. You will visit a local market first, after which you will learn to cook the products you bought. If this is not yet enough, watch a fruit carving presentation and Balinese traditional medicine presentation that are also included in this half-day culinary experience for USD $21 per person. 9. Picnic by the beach – only $21 per person

Bali is speckled with beautiful beaches that are ideal for a memorable picnic with your family. Sanur is the most family friendly beach with its calm waters, and would be the perfect picnic spot for a family or group of friends.

The famous South Peninsula beaches also offer stunning sceneries with beaches hidden by the cliffs, for this intimate occasion we’d recommend you to head towards Balangan. Or if you prefer more quiet scenery, you could just head towards the East Coast of Bali and find a quiet beach, away from the crowds.

Travelling by motorbike or bicycle is a great way to explore Bali and witness its countryside. Rent one for about IDR 50.000 per day and enjoy riding around Ubud’s rice fields with its amazing views. You may prefer to book a downhill cycling tour for USD $18 to experience a fascinating tour through Bali’s quiet back roads including a visit to a woodcarving workshop, temples and coffee plantation.

13. Kecak Dance – entrance ticket for $8

Having rented that motorbike, make sure you get to see the Kecak dance on the way, just bring with you IDR 100,000 for the entrance fee and you can witness the spectacular ceremony. If you prefer, book a guided tour for $43 USD with a late afternoon transfer to the beautiful Uluwatu Temple, perched 30 meters above the cliff facing the Indian Ocean. The impressive Kecak dance tells the love story of Rama and Shinta with the setting sun as background in this extraordinary location.

14. Silver workshop – from $32

You can choose to buy a souvenir in a shop, or you can make your own souvenir! At this silver workshop in Ubud you will learn Balinese silver smithing techniques and create your own jewellery for USD $32 per person. Children of over 8 years of age are welcome to join.

15. Batik Workshop – from $28

Another unique local activity in Ubud is this Batik workshop, a 3-hour fascinating introduction to Balinese Batik techniques, tools and dyes. Produce your own design or try to master the detail of a traditional one and bring your self-made souvenir home with you.

18. Sip a cocktail in a beach club – from $8

The real feel of holiday kicks in with a cocktail in your hands, feet in the sand and looking at the ocean. There are many places to enjoy this feeling in Bali, we recommend you among them Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak, Rock Bar in Jimbaran or Finns Beach Club in Uluwatu (Ungasan). A cocktail should cost you about USD $8-15 but you can always go for a fresh Bintang, this holiday feeling will be the same

19. Taste the famous Balinese traditional dish : Babi Guling – from $4

You can’t say that you have been to Bali if you haven’t tasted Babi Guling or suckling pig, one of Bali’s most popular dishes. The pig is stuffed and infused with a spicy concoction and traditionally spit-roasted.

All around Bali you can find this delicious meal for $4 – 10 USD, of which Ibu Oka in Ubud is best known. Other restaurants worth a try are Warung Babi Guling in Sanur or Sari Kembar in Seminyak.

20. Learn how to make your own kite and fly it like a local – $30

Flying a kite is part of the Balinese culture. The kites they use here are not just a usual kite, they all have the shape of a creature and are as big as a human body!
