Over the last thirteen weeks the Eason Spelling Bee Team has travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of our County Spelling Bee Champions.
The Provincial finals stage of the competition kicked off on May 23rd with the Munster Provincial Final. The Anton Savage Show on Today FM joined the Bee Team in The Limerick Strand Hotel for what was a thrilling competition. The six county winners who competed for the title of Munster Champion were:
Jack McElligott from Killocrim N.S, Listowel, Co. Kerry
Zoha Panezai from Limerick School Project, Limerick City, Co. Limerick
Hannah Power from Convent Primary School, Killaloe, Co. Clare
Ella Hadley from Grange N.S, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary
Tomás Flynn from Fews N.S, Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford
Brooke Ni Nualláin from Scoil Mhuire, Ballincollig, Co. Cork
The support for the spellers was fantastic and their loud cheers and banners really added to the electric atmosphere in Limerick. After many rounds of spectacular spelling Zoha Panezai, from Limerick School Project, was crowned our Eason Spelling Bee Munster Champion 2016.
Munster Winning Word: Cerebral.
Definition: Of or relating to the cerebrum or to the entire brain; Involving intelligence rather than emotions or instinct.
Zoha now goes on to represent her school in the All Ireland Spelling Bee Final which takes place on the 20th June in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin City Centre.
The excitement continues to grow as we look forward to our next Provincial Final, Connacht.
