Dr. Martens spoke to new London-based three piece Zibra; formed of Sam Battle on vocals, Ben Everest on Bass, and Russ Harley on Synths. The band have released 3 singles this year including ‘Paris’, with their debut album set for release in 2016.

For those who don’t know Zibra, how would you sum yourselves up in a sentence?

I’d say something along the lines of ‘chopped up pop, with lots of broken home made synths and guitars’. People have said that we sound like a mix between Elvis Costello meets Depeche Mode. If HEALTH had a lovechild with Years & Years.

You’ve been touring with Børns, what’s been some of your highlights so far?

We turned our hotel room one night into a boat and called it the HMS HARLEY. God knows what the cleaner thought in the morning, but hearing Børns play Electric Love every night was pretty decent.

Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens:

Sam: They were 8 eyelet oxe-blood, and they saw me through some tough times. I’ll never forget them.

Three tracks you’re listening to right now:

Clarence Clarity – ‘Cancer in the Water’.

OMI – ‘Hula Hoop’

Wolf Alice – ‘Freazy’

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?

We love the junk shops, live music and gigs, and the palm tree.

And finally, what do you stand for?

We represent Queen, Country and PG TIPS.
