Did you know there are lots of fun things to do on BrainHQ for free? Here are 10 great ones to try!

Try a new exercise

Have you tried all the BrainHQ exercises available to you? You can see the full list of exercises by scrolling to the bottom of the page. (Make sure you’re logged in, though!) Each of the exercises is listed at the bottom. The four exercises written in black ink—Divided Attention, Target Tracker, Hawk Eye, and Visual Sweeps—are free for you to try. (You can subscribe to get access to the rest of them!)

Take on a challenge

Do you know about the 16 challenges on BrainHQ? Each one is a collection of exercises that help you work toward a specific goal. With choices like Hearing in a Crowded Room, Be My Best at Sports and Games, and Brain Injury Survivor, there’s a challenge for everyone! To check out the challenges, just click the “Add a Challenge” button from your BrainHQ homepage. (Make sure you’re logged in to see the button!)

Click on any of the challenges to learn more. You can try the ones that say “First Challenge Free.”

Fill in a week of training

There’s a calendar on BrainHQ that lets you keep track of how much brain training you have done. Calendar boxes that are filled in are the days you visited BrainHQ.

Challenge yourself to come back every day for a week to fill in an entire column!

Set up a reminder

Just in case you’re having trouble remembering to train your brain, you can have BrainHQ send you email reminders. Set one up! Here’s how:

Click on “Progress” at the top of the screen.

Click the blue “scheduling a reminder email” link (under the calendar).

Move your mouse over the empty boxes to see the date.

Click the date you want your email reminder to come.

See how well you’re doing for a 20-year-old…or a 100-year-old

Want to know how your BrainHQ performance compares to other people your age (or any other age)? Here’s how you do that:

Click the “Progress” tab at the top of the page.

You’ll see four options in the green bar: Days Trained, Stars Earned, Levels Complete, and Percentile. They all have interesting information, but in this case click “Percentile.”

If asked, fill in your age and the other pieces of information.

If you’ve done enough training, you’ll see your Age Ranking. (If you haven’t, go back to the exercises and train a little more!)

Use the age slider to see how you’d compare to people from 20 to 100.

Maximize your stars

For each level of each exercise, you can earn up to five stars. The stars represent how well you do in that level compared to everyone else using BrainHQ. So if you get five stars, you’re among the best.

If you want to up your star count, there’s an easy way to find out where you can improve. Just click the “Progress” tab at the top of the page. Then click the “Stars Earned” tab in the green bar. If you’ve used any exercises, you’ll see a map with colored circles on it. (Areas with no circles are levels you haven’t yet tried.) Mouse over the circles to see what exercise level they represent and how many stars you got on that level.

See a small circle that you’d like to make bigger? Just click on it and BrainHQ will take you straight to that exercise level so you can try to earn more stars!

Tip: You can also see how you’ve improved over time. Just click between “Baseline” and “Best” under the map. Baseline shows your first performance. Best shows your highest score.

Learn all you can about the BrainHQ exercises

Do you ever wonder how our scientists designed the BrainHQ games, and why? You can find out all you want to know about the goals of each exercise in the About the BrainHQ Exercises section of the BrainHQ website. Just click on an exercise icon for a full description.
